Can you use Alexa and CarPlay at the same time?

Hidden menu bypass for video, worked on my DMH-W4600NEX

    https://www.reddit.com/r/CarPlay/co...urce=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

    DMH-WC6600NEX, WT7600NEX, and WT8600NEX working bypass!

Copied from another forum, it works! For the second step you tap and hold to the left of the phone icon, not the Bluetooth icon.

    1. Update the firmware to 1.13
    2. Enable the hidden menu bypass by sourcing the radio off (source off, not power off).
    3. Press and hold the bottom left corner of the screen for exactly 10 seconds (use a stopwatch as timing is critical).
    4. Within 1 second, press and hold the bottom right corner (to the immediate left of bluetooth icon) for 10-12 seconds until a small “set on” icon will appear (in the bottom middle of the screen) confirming the bypass has been activated.
    5. If you do not get it the first time, cycle the source to radio then back to off and try again.
    6. If you need to reverse this process, reset the radio.

Nice to have YouTube and Netflix on the go...

I have a question...if you are using wireless CarPlay and then turn the truck off. The next time you get into the truck and crank it up, does the unit boot straight into wireless CarPlay again, like how you left off, or do you have to physically touch the screen and select CarPlay to get back into it?

Goes back to CarPlay, has settings to connect or go back to whatever you want.

Can’t say enough good things about it. Am I the first on a second gen?

That's sweet....I went with the 7600 (the 9").... install on Thursday, hitting the road from CA to ID the following Thursday. Can't wait.

Did you hook up the HDMI? I'm hoping with the bypass and HDMI, I can get Youtube TV running on it. Not for while I'm driving, but for when I'm running the wife around town and waiting in the car.....someday we'll have sports again and I hate watching on my phone.

@mbn225 That's fantastic. I was just going to run a cable into the center console....do you have a pic you can post? I had a 2010 before I bought the 2017 but I've already forgotten exactly where the 12v lighters are located.

Or even better, do you have a link to the plug you bought?

Hows the button response and the operating speed between screens for the pioneer? I have the avh-4500nex and its buggy. Gonna deal with it for now but its in dire need for a firmware update

I have one of these on order for the HDMI.

    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33018397369.html?spm=a2g0s.8937460.0.0.65252e0ezSgRLf

for the USB / AUX I used this and modified it to work with the USB C cable provided by pioneer:

@ckkone Are you running the video through HDMI or mirroring? I just got the 7600NEX installed but haven't had time to play with video yet.

The bypass was super easy....thanks for posting.

I just used the browser and tried YouTube and Netflix. Haven’t tried the HDMI yet and honestly probably will never use it, it’s more of a novelty item.

I get stuck driving the wife around doing errands on the weekends and would love to have YouTube TV running in the truck to entertain myself while I'm waiting. I'll report back once I get the HDMI working.

lol, sounds a lot like the IPhone vs. unlocked jailbroke android phone comparisons.

Funny how he says it’s not top of the line. What other name brand audio company has a capacitive HD tablet display, HD radio, premium sound quality, w/ wireless CarPlay and Android Auto? It’s cool, we’ll wait.......

I agree, lets see which unit lasts longer and which has better sound quality. Seen way too many Android units shit the bed and most if not all have engine whine through the speakers. I really don't see the draw in the Android units, I really just want the head unit to sound good and connect to carplay wireless which the new NEX head units all do a great job.

My last pioneer (x920bt) was replaced twice under warranty and then the BT went out 3 months after warranty expired and they said tough luck.

Soooooo... I don’t know that pioneer is better than anything else. Just saying.

I'll wait for what kenwood will offer. An alpine version is coming out but the bezel is ginormous.

Same. Always had good experiences with Kenwood and i'm pretty loyal to them. Would like them to go ahead and release their new floating headunits. They look incredible and the option to add an HD front/reverse is real appealing.

Still have the big concern of a floating screen attracting thief attention, hoping someone comes up with a good way to disguise the screen but I can't really imagine how that would work.

Can anybody who owns this unit tell me, when using SiriusXM can you use the steering wheel controls to scroll thru stored XM radio presets? You currently cannot do this with a Kenwood so in order for me to browse my XM presets, I have to take my eyes off the road.
    It's highly annoying.

This forum is killing me financially!

So what does James recommend? Before I begin ripping my new truck apart, I'm trying to decide if I should just change out the HU as well. I only want to have to do this once. Thanks.

@SteveCanyon He told me he likes the Sony’s but for me that was a no go since it doesn’t have HDMI. I think this was before CES and Kenwood announced their big floating HU...shoot him an email. I’m sure he’ll tell you exactly what he likes.

I’m on a road trip with my Pioneer and loving it so far. Ask me again in 2 years....

I think I'm going to pull the trigger on this one...looks pretty bas a$$ to me, and anything has to be better than the stock HU.

I have not yet. Figured I'd do the HU first, then do the speakers as well.

I actually have a 2018 Sequoia, but I think the dash layout is similar to the 2nd Gen Tundras. What dash trim kit did you end up using with this unit? I've been eyeing these on Crutchfield, but their site says their not compatible with Tundras/Sequoias because of the size I'm assuming. Obviously they are...

Yeah that's what they told me too but I went to my local audio shop and they found one to work I'm not sure what it is but I'll check the invoice for you.
