Only put the fender flares on 2 months ago, and i knew about the rubbing with the rubber around the flare. I know i should have put that 3m tape on first, anyways long story short, i want to to to clean the paint up first, Im not good with paint, so i tried med rubbing compound no luck, toothpaste ( got it off the internet ) no luck WD40 ( again off the internet ) no luck, can anybody tell what i could buy to buff it out or do i take it to a detailer shop to get them to buff it out. I do want to put my flares back on but put tape on it this time. Again only 2 months ago i put them on and i can't believe the damage it does.

That sucks. And they are supposed to help mitigate damage to the fenders too. Detailers use a wax compound called cutter. I think there s different grades, but it would take most if not all of that out with a buffer. I would let the detail shop do it if you ve never used it though. There s definitely a technique to using it. I tried to use it on an old lincoln continental, but didn t use it right. When it rained my paint was beautiful, but when it dried out it looked like crap.

Why didn't you use the 3m tape as instructed?

In hindsight I appreciate every mistake I ve ever made, (and I ve made plenty), because I learn the best by them.

The tape doesn't come with the flares, it is an option, and i tried to order from the states, no shipping to Canada. Not easy to find that clear tape kit up here.
