    Hey all!

I am looking to get a tonneau cover. I used to have a soft top roller on my 07 tacoma dc (bought new, put 250k miles). I recently traded up to a 2018 Platinum.

I think I have settled on a hard top tri-fold. If you have a better suggestion, talk me out of it! If you agree with and have one, I'd appreciate some guidance on where you purchased it from. Pictures are welcome!

    Thanks!

Check out Truck Covers USA. Best cover there is in my opinion. A few of us on here have them. Try to find a used one if you can..

Others will chime in, but definitely do some research. Some have had issues with leaks. I have an Undercover Classic ( 1 piece) myself.

Found their website but no pricing or ordering info.
I'm looking for a cover also. I'd rather have a soft one. I have a chest tool box and I think the mechanical hard tops would deny my access to the box. Also I wanna go on the cheap for it.
    suggestions?

I have an extang 2.0 solidfold that was decent with minimal leaks which I think was mainly through the railcaps. Seemed to provide adequate security but was a little on the heavy side. However, i could not use it when i had to put large things or 6 bicycles in the bed so i found a used truxedo lopro on Amazon warehouse for $150. The box arrived torn but the cover did not look used at all. I'm happier with this soft roll up because it allows me the ability to use the entire bed without having to remove it.

I have the extang solidfold 2.0 and I love it. With all the rain we get here in Portland it's a must. I haven't noticed any leaks, but I have only had it 6 months and knew that a trifold wouldn't be completely leak proof. I got mine from Bobtop Canopies in Hillsboro. They had it for as cheap as I could find online and I was able to pick it up in person. They will even install it for you (not that it's necessary) for like $40 or something. They can get lots of other tonneau covers also. I recommend at least calling them to check out the options. They were super nice. I'll try to load up a picture later today for you.

My truck purchased used came with truxedo lo pro- not expensive, roll up soft cover. I really like it and it seals well- no leaks. Fits my needs.

My Diamondback HD cover has been the best thing I’ve bought for my truck yet. I live in the Pacific Northwest and it rains a lot. This keeps everything dry, secure, and I can haul up to 1600lbs on top of it

^^ X2 on the Diamondback HD. I love mine and they now make them in smooth rather than diamond plate. They're awesome.

BTW there is a diamondbackHD for sale on Craigslist in the Portland area if anyone is looking for that. I adjust my search radius pretty large, so it might be right outside Portland.

It's all about deciding what you want the cover to do for you. There are covers that'll do everything from keeping your stuff dry, but zero security (fabric); to the Diamondback HD that you can drive a heavy-ass OHV onto--plus everything in between. Decide what you want the cover to do first, then narrow down your search from there.

Edit: And as always, the more it does--the more it costs.

I figured it was something to do with the profile, I thought that maybe the materials were different. Thanks

It’s lower profile and a different material. The X15 is matte black fabric like convertible material. The lo pro is the shiny vinyl like most soft covers.

Retractable ones like Retrax are great if you can stand losing a bit of the upper part of the bed. I really liked the Retrax Pro XR I had on my truck for a while. Even though you lose the space where the canister sits, you can still slide things underneath.

I like Access soft roll up covers. Had one on my last Tundra for 10 years and was still in good shape. Just order a new one for my new to me 2018 Crewmax. Also order the ADARAK from them so I can have a closed cover and a rack for kayaks. Quality stuff and made in the USA!

Will do. I am getting my spray in liner done next Friday. Once that cures I will be installing my access cover and ADARAK.

I got the Rugged Liner HC3 tonneau cover a few months ago. I'm less than thrilled with it. It leaks slightly, which is ok. Truthfully, nearly everything is going to leak a little without some degree of 'leak chasing'.
The hardware is a bit cheapo considering the price tag. Injection molded plastic latch handles, roughly machined aluminum latch hooks. And the way it sits on the bedrails it's starting to deform the plastic top trim.
For 800 bucks I would've gone another direction knowing what I know now.

You’ll want a cover that opens easily within accommodating kayak racks to enable trouble free mount/dismount (Adarac might be the answer rack wise). You don’t want to accidentally drop a kayak end on a retractable or cover you wouldn’t stand on.

I have a Diamondback but I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re racking kayaks because the options for it are pricey and limited (KBVoodoo or drilling channels into the DB and retrofitting Thule or similar).

Can someone tell me which soft roll up tonneau cover uses the stock rail to mount to and that does not have large rails that stand out into the bed from the sides. I see some that have rails like 2 inches wide on both sides taking up a lot of room. Want my cover to take up as little room as possible when rolled up.

Ones advertised as low profile ones such as the lo pro and X15 stick into the bed space a lot.

Cant help with which ones don’t, but this might help direct your search.
