Just like the title says, I'm bored at home like most of us and have been toying around buying a new grille or just painting my stock one. I plan on keeping the chrome surround and bulge to accent the bumper ends. So as the poll states which is your choice?

Match the chrome surround before anything else.

Ah I see. He's a chrome hater... LOL
...I prefer to keep it since my bumper has chrome ends both front and back

You can go all the way, I’m personally a chrome hatter, well at least with quicksand.

When I had my black Tundra I didn’t mind the chrome.

It’s easy to do. Bumpershellz and some prep and paint for the grill.

I was thinking about a honeycomb but don't have the funds right now to make that happen. So I figured a DIY project works for me

So, how do painted grills do with cleaning off bug splats? I do a lot of highway driving …
Looking for a Tundra, and don’t love chrome either!

those painted grills look good. i have a white tundra. i'd like to do the grill surround, but would prefer white color/paint matched. i think the black surround contrasts too much against the white. and the likelihood of painting it white and having it even remotely match would be a PITA. trying to find a used one online

i'm with the color-match surround crowd, but agree that if you do that you are committed to color-matching the bumper end caps as well.

Pic of a dealer upgraded 2020 limited in the area i was considering for some time. Was a fan of the way the cement color-match looked with the limited grille, even though it was kinda washed...

I would buy a new one before I try painting the chrome. It's nowhere near as easy as you think it would me. It doesn't bond well even with promoter. I bought a painted grill for mine so I can get it color matched.

Just my 2cents which isnt worth much...but black out with chrome looks just odd to me.

Either embrace the chrome, or do a black out but remove all the chrome. The contrasts between black out and chrome looks too cut and paste. It's like wearing black dress shoes with white socks, black belt with brown shoes, gold neck chain with chrome watch.

If you still want some chrome, paint the surround and leave the middle chrome. Think that would look best.

My vote is to use plastidip or vinyl wrap on the 2 Large bars in the center keeping the thin middle bars and emblem chrome. If you don't like it, you can peel it off. Good luck, post pics of whatever you decide.

What's the best way to color match the outside chrome on the grill?
