With my '06 Tundra X-SP (2wd DC) I have plans to get a travel trailer (pop up) in the 19 - 25ft range, no more than 3800lbs dry.
I am not 100% sure my truck is equipped with an actual "tow package" though there is a nice tow hitch under the rear bumper with receptacle.
Would be wise to install rear airbags for this future purchase? Guessing a plug in electric brake set up for the trailer will be needed/can be done as well?
Any other needed recommendations for this 2wd Tundra 4.7 for the towing world?

Go to Toyota.com owner section (link below), enter your VIN, to determine if you have a tow package and other specs:

    https://www.toyota.com/owners/my-vehicle/vehicle-specification

Read your truck's model number off the driver side door jamb label, then research owner manual to determine your truck's towing capacity. Read the owner manual for towing recommendations and "stickies" on the Towing and Hauling forum starting at link below to insure that you consider all the limits of your Tundra:

If your truck has a seven pin receptacle, the wiring harness for electric trailer brakes is already there. Adding an aftermarket brake controller may be plug-n-play. Gen2 experts can answer for certain.

Your tundra will tow it like a dream. Air bags are excessive unless your rear leaf springs are shot. Make sure you have trailer brakes, and rock it. Follow the advice above to make sure you have the tow package.

You should have no trouble towing a Pop Up as long as the truck is in decent condition and be sure that you get a Brake Controller and wire it correctly.

I would get that set up and try it with the trailer you decide on before going any further until you see how it feels to you.

While maybe not needed strictly speaking a WDH setup can go a long way to improve confidence when towing if the thing feels iffy to you when driving.

If u dont HAVE to tow dont tow. If u have to tow go ahead and itll be fine. Towing creates unnecessary stress imo if u dont have to tow. Thats my logic with my 20 year old 01 pickup. I'm sure it would be fine as long as i keep o/d off

I have a stock 2001 Tundra. I towed a large popup camper, equipped with electric brakes, for several years. I never had a problem and never felt the need to upgrade the suspension or anything else. The truck/camper always felt stable and secure.
