Oh, and my L-bracket bent slightly at the weight of the RTT. I am eyeing a heavy duty shelf bracket...

    Something like this:

    tent hoist.jpg
By doing it this way, the tent never touches the ground and I can move it around with ease.

Great in theory!! Being a woman and wanting this system to help with a heavy item, I would still need to get the ends hooked over on to bed rack...won’t that still involve some lifting?

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHA...

EXACTLY like that. After last time it was like an Ah-Ha moment. Why am I moving it from the dolly onto the lift when I can just integrate the two of them TOGETHER!!!
The current way, I noticed some scuffs on the corners from moving the tent from the garage onto the lift. Wanted a way to eliminate any potential wear on the tent cover.

Not if they are slightly taller than the rack. Then we can just tilt it down a little to grab onto the rack, and the whole thing stores away as one unit.

I'll let you know how it works once I test it out.

I think this idea has merit, if the tubing used is strong enough to hold the roughly 200lb load without bending.

I like this design for the fact that it can be stored easily. Do you have a write-up on your design? Any flaws so far?

I actually ditched that system. Lemme see if I can find a pic of my new system that works WAY better.

    Here it is!!

    https://www.tundras.com/threads/one-person-rtt-install-technique.50117/

I've made a few modifications to the system though. I attached the arms to a furniture dolly so I can just wheel the tent out of the garage, unfold the arms, attach the hooks to the bed rack and lift. Pinoy did the same for her tent/truck.

See this link for more details:
    https://www.tundras.com/threads/pinays-build.48104/page-8

The only difference in my setup is that the "arms" are two pieces so I can fold them down to fit into my garage. ZERO lifting required.
