    • In 2019 Tundra models Driver side grab grip handle is take out. Not available even as an option. Toyota explanation was it obstruct the side air bag placed inside the vertical trim. Technical review later proved it was not true. So Toyota Dealership started selling it. Sparks Parts sells it as a kit along with the hardware. Others sells handle and trim, then you need to go to Lowes to get the extruded U nut and screws. It is very useful piece . Otherwise you need to grab the steering wheel all the time while getting in. Very easy install. There are multiple Youtube videos also available. Tundra Platinum with DriversideGrab Grip-a.jpg Tundra Platinum with DriversideGrab Grip-b.jpg

Many of us have done this exact same thing. It's a nice upgrade.

My truck does NOT have that grab handle, and honestly I don't even realize it. I don't use the steering wheel to pull myself in either. I use my side steps and just have a seat. Thought about doing it, but I really don't need it.

The air bag thing is what concerns me about it. Did Toyota come back and say it was fine or someone figured it fit still and called it fine to do?

Toyota Dealership only tld me. If Toyota still has concern, they won't allow the dealerships to sell these parts for 2019 as Genuine Toyota Parts. remember about the rubber floor mat saga. Due to prevailing concerns, Toyota discontinued the accessory and we were not able to purchase those from dealership parts department. When you purchase any parts from Dealership, they have to record the vehicle VIN along with the purchaser info. "Northbound Train", my friend I know several of you have done this upgrade. I learned the value of upgrades from experts like you all. I was just sharing install as an acknowledgement for you all providing the details of installation. Thanks.

Does anyone knows if this part is still available? I have a 2018 Toyota Tundra 1794 Edition and think this would be awesome to have.

A quick search here, or google, would show you that yes, it's available.

I just got burned by going on Facebook Marketplace trying to purchase this. If there is somebody out there that the consumer can trust can someone send me a hyperlink to their site. Thanks ahead for the support.

They discontinued the grab handle due to poor frontal crash performance. The dummies were hitting their heads on the handles. Solution, remove the handles.

Then why are they still on the passenger side? All the big 3 have grab handles for driver are their dummies not hitting their heads on them?

Great question. Might have been during a drivers offset frontal crash test. Would affect the driver more in that situation. Also the drivers and passenger airbags are not shaped the same. All conjecture on my part, the removal due to crash test findings is what I read though.
