I think this will be my next toy. I know it's heavy, long, and not a tack driver. I'm not humping it, not walking it through the mountains, and as long as I can hit center mass at 300 yards with it I will be happy.
I just think this is a sexy rifle, the wood stock and 18 inch barrel. What say you?

Yeah that’s nice looking. I’ve got a weird thing for the mini 30. Not a very expensive gun and not the best out there but I just like it for its practicality, affordability and looks.

What got me thinking of my next toy was my wifes fault. She asked if I have purchased one of these yet, she was thinking I already had one. Nope and nope! So of course casually I had to remind her our birthdays are in a few months:spending:

I had to look them up, never heard of them. They do have some nice rifles. It may be a harder sell trying to convince for one of those. $$

I love the mini 30. Makes a great ranch rifle. Fantastic for taking down coyotes, fun to shoot, cheap to reload.

I had a LRB M1A before, forged receiver and made in usa. Was a very smooth shooter. I liked it a lot but ended up selling it.

My first M14 clone was a Scout Squad... you will love it.
BTW, the 18" will hit center mass well beyond 300 yards.

I've had a walnut scout squad for several years. It is one FANTASTIC rifle, comes to the shoulder more naturally than any other rifle I own (previous winner was my Marlin lever actions). The stock sights are excellent, rifle is very accurate and uber reliable.

There is nothing like it, I love mine.

I loved mine but a buddy offered me to much $$$ to turn him down.
This week while setting at home recovering from the rona I was cleaning out my gun stash and found 5 new in wrapper M14 magazines. So I guess it time to start looking for another Scout Squad.
