Howdy folks, a friend of mine made me an offer I couldn't refuse of his '06 DC + cash for my 2016 CrewMax.

Right now it is a stock TRD package. I am deciding on lift options and thinking roughly a 2-2.5" from and no rear or....a. 3/1. Either with new coilovers and a rear block or shackle (and new rear shocks).

I'm leaning toward the Eibach 2.5" coilover or similar 5100/Dobinson combo.
For something in this range, would you guys recommend new UCA's?

I don't off-road much, just farm roads, fields, and logging roads a few times a year. And, I don't tow often (just a 21" sport boat a few times a year, short distances).
Any reccomendations on raising the rear (if needed to maintain very slight rake)??
On my 3rd gen I would have gone shackles, but I see more about leafs and blocks for 1st Gens.

My other wheel thought is the TRD/SEMA 17" wheels and 285/70R17. Suppose the same Q on clearance and possible spacers? I don't mind trimming a bit if needed.
Or. maybe a 0 offset Icon or Method wheels solves those problems in one move (?)

    Thanks!

Lift the 2" front, leave the rear alone.

Upper arms are a good idea, they will relieve the upper ball joint angle and will give more clearance for tires.

I'm not savvy on offset without knowing wheel width, but to run a 285 tire you want 4" of backspacing and preferably an 8" wide wheel, but 4.5" and a 9" will work with a slight rub.

Some aluminum 16s won't fit proper on your year, depends how the inside is shaped. 17s will fit no problem and offer more range in tire selection.

You will likely have to do a minor trim on the corners of the front bumper and may need to pop out the inner fender liner to smack the pinch weld flat, then put the inner liner back. It's common for first gens running 33s.

    Welcome to first gen life.

    Thanks!

Maybe 17's are in order then.

Browse around the first gen builds section and see what other members are running with. Most of then are active and happy to talk about what worked, what they liked, what they wouldn't do again.

The SEMA wheels are great, I run them in black, but at 7" width they may be a little skinny for 285s. I have 265/70r17 on them.

Please consider these if you go the TRD pro/SEMA wheel route.

The OME (Old Man Emu) lift is pretty solid, I ran it on my 2011 Tacoma, and just installed one in my 05 DC Tundra. Could use a little more lift in the rear, but it gives about 2.5 all around. I've gone through Toytec in the past, but found the best deal on the OME lift from bilsteinlifts.com: https://www.bilsteinlifts.com/shop/...dra/ome-2-5-lift-kit-2000-2006-toyota-tundra/

Ride is a little stiff, but I also went with the 700lb springs. If you go this route, have them put the coils on for you, its an extra cost, but totally worth it. I had access to a wall mounted coil compressor and it was still a pain to get on, and in the right position. Installation is pretty easy, if I get motivated I might do a write up soon.

I didn't add UCAs, and did not have an issue with alignment, or any rubbing on the UCA. I have wheels with -12mm offset (I believe, cant find any info online anymore)

    Thanks guys!

I took in a bunch of the build thread ideas and think I'll keep it simple for now. I scored 5100s all around on sale from Bilstein for $385 today. So, I'll either see how the OEM springs look and use those on the 1.6" clip (did similar on my '16) or order new coils etc if needed.

There's quite a bit of rake on this one (maybe b/c of the TRD package??) and while I need to get more precise measurements, I think its 2"+.
The KO2s are wearing on the front, so I'm in no hurry for wheel/tires, but am between the Fn FxP Pro (thanks @revtune ), Method Grid, and SCS Ray 10s (all in 17") and going w/ the 285/70R17 Toyo ATIII C-rated

Also on the search for a new headunit w/ Apple CarPlay and a backup cam to integrate. (suggestions welcome!)

@tdn Kenwood DMX906S will do all that you are looking for (BT, CarPlay, backup cam, etc), great unit, I have it installed in two vehicles including my Tundra.

@Dog thanks so much! Do you know which backup cam you used on your Tundra?

I also measured things this morning and have 2.5" rake (and no discernible drivers side lean).

So might be tempted to grab some 2-2.5" or 2.5" coils to go full level and maybe a Hellwig helper spring for the rear if I need a 1/2" bump in height.

For those who done something similar... would you recommend new UCA and diff drop with this? Anything else I'm missing?
    Thanks

The FREE ONE the audio shop threw in when I bought the head unit. Just the basic black cube-looking one. But I swear I have better video quality and resolution than the factory camera in my wife's Audi.
