Very useful idea for trucks with tonneau cover. Retrax Pro XR Tonneau cover tracks can take Rhino Rack or Thule cross bars to ride on the tracks. They are not fixed type but can be easily unlocked and move along the tracks makes it versatile in application. Very useful to tie down the items loaded on the truck bed, carry travel luggage as in roof tracks. Tie down placing items over the crossbars longer than the truck bed. The rook height for large truck like Tundra with cross bars if installed is not easily accessible. More than everything it is very sporty and stylish in appearance too.Tundra Platinum with DriversideGrab Grip-c.jpg Tundra with Rhino bars-a.jpg

    Many pending.....
Looks great and I’ve been thinking about the same setup.
Why did you decide on the ProXR vs. the OneXR? Quite a price difference and the only thing I see is the composition of the cover: polycarbonate vs aluminum slats. Pro can hold 500 lbs distributed vs One 200 lbs.

I’m trying to justify (talk myself into the Pro) .....

Dear Friend, I put some thoughts to go with Retrax One XR or Pro XR. You are right, the top lay material is the main difference. I heard multiple complaints of polycarbonate getting cracked and leaked. Premium aluminum is durable and strong against cracks. It is powder coated too. I had a similar one back in Texas but different brand with powder coated aluminum flaps on top and I was very happy with it for the past 6 years with my Tacoma so decided to go with the ProXR.

How much did you get the Retrax for?

HI GGODON, I haven't purchased the RetroMax Pro XR directly from retrax. I orded through one of my local authorized dealer. I ended up paying $2,129 for parts and labor including tax.

I have the same setup and love it. It was not installed correctly by the dealer the first go round, or there was a defect in the rails, but Retrax sent out a new rail and it has been great. Can't beat the look. Only downside is you lose some bed space for larger items as the area where the cover rolls up into is not insignificant.

I ordered my retrax pro XR, I’m waiting for it to arrive, Retrax has a ten day lead time from ordering to shipping. I can’t wait to start using it.

Have any of you had issues with the RetraxPro XR leaking? I know all covers leak to some extent (I have one as well from truck covers usa) but wondering if you've gotten any leaking toward the front of the bed in the middle where it rolls into the box.

I notice water in the back when I go through the car wash, but not really much day to day.

Looking into these covers vs a Diamondback. I like the idea of storing gear out of the weather (mostly it seems) and still being able to carry a load on top of the cover.

I’m wondering just how much bed space you lose with the box the RetraxPro XR rolls into.

If someone has some measurements, I’d be very grateful. I’m looking for:
    • how much bed length it eats up (front-to-rear length of the box from the front of the bed)
    • how tall the box is
    • how much space is left under the box (vertical height from floor of bed to bottom of box)

Can anyone with a Retrax Pro XR take some quick measurements in the post above (#11)? I couldn’t find how big that box is that the cover rolls up into. Pics of the bed with the tailgate down and cover rolled up (open) would be much appreciated, too.

I need to know how much space is left under and behind the canister when this thing is installed. Thanks!

I’ve got the Truck Covers USA cover, so can’t get you numbers on the Retrax, but would be happy to get numbers for you on mine if you wanted.

Yeah man, that would be awesome.
The way I currently use my bed for our camping trips, I keep three Plano trunks up against the front of the bed. They fit pretty snug between the wheel wells, almost like they were made for it. I’m mostly curious if they’ll fit under the canister that the cover rolls up into. Thanks!

Truck Covers advertises the smallest canister at 8"x8" and I just confirmed mine measures that. So by my measurements, I've got 14.25" clear from the high rib in the bed to the bottom of the canister (it's actually a touch more, but that's rounding things to 1/4"). The 8" measurement out from the back of the bed is to the top frame of the bed where the bed-rail attaches, so from the lower part of the bed it is a little further, but the canister is also angled on the front at a 45 to reduce how much sticks into your useable space.

(The picture of the tape measure under it is more for visual reference - obviously the camera angle doesn't give the true dimension.)

Awesome. That looks better for my needs than what I’ve seen from the Retrax clips I watched last night on YouTube.

    Thanks a ton!
