Does anyone know how to disable connected services for a 2020 limited tundra? I would prefer to be able to turn it off and on, as needed. But if that's not possible, what's the method to disable please. I find location tracing to be offensive. Thank you, everyone!

Do you have to register it to set it up for the year that is included with the purchase? We just bought a 2020 4Runner and received an email but haven't read it yet.

Shut off the location service on your cell phone and that may solve the problem!

Yes, but I think the dealshirp you buy from has to do it, at least mine did it for me anyway.

I did not have to register. Unless they did something back in the shop while prepping for delivery. It has a sticker (to be removed by the buyer only) That says these services are on. It says:

"Vehicle data transmission is on {exclamation} Your vehicle wirelessly transmits location driving and vehicle health data to deliver your services and for internal research and data analysis. To disable it says press the SOS button."

But I want to be certain it's off and I thought pressing that button would signal help. Any ideas?

Okay, great info on the cell phone services! Thank you. I wonder if the vehicle itself isn't tracked though. I have navigation so even with my phone off, I'm pretty sure they know where the vehicle is at all times. In these uncertain times, it would be nice to know you can go off the radar.

You're never completely off the grid. Even with your cell phone off it can still be tracked.

I have this same sticker. It seems, by what the sticker says, that it is on by default and I have to push the button to turn it off.
I never signed up for any apps. I denied the 1-yr free Toyota app access at the dealer. But it seems to me my truck is still transmitting data. So I’m gonna push the button and hope that takes care of it.

I just pushed the button. Followed the prompts to “enrollment”, connected me with a rep. Told her I want it disabled. Confirmed disablement. Said it’ll take about 24hrs to go into effect. The little green light will turn red when it’s disabled.

Should note mine is RED, but I have connected services and the app I pay monthly for working.

I activated a 3 month free trail on a 2021 to install updates from the touch screen which said it was up to date. Software update needs to be done with USB driver anyway. I did see the vehicle service history from dealership. But now that the app is activated the remote start from the key fob doesn't work. I read another thread where if you activate the app you can't go back to remote start from the key fob. You will need to pay the $8 for the app remote start even if you cancel subscription. I also don't see remote start option on the app. So this is most disappointing feature on the Toyota. It's also way behind my 2019 Ford F150 technology that was all free. Not a deal breaker but hope the app is useful and free someday. And who knows that may be one reason I buy a different brand next time.

I have both keyfob remote start and app, and I let the app expire every other month or so usually during the summer as I only use it for winter, ask your dealer they are prob get you setup, you do not need to pay the monthly app price for your keyfob to work

Ubuntu Touch on a pixel 3a for me has been pretty good so far, but you only get 1 day of batter life max.

There's no guarantee the modem stays inactive when the device power is off. PinePhone has physical kill switches for everything.

There is when you use a different boot loader, and have an actually usable phone... but pine phone is okay, just cheapy to be used seriously.
