Lock-lock-lock with a half second between each. If that doesn’t work try lock-unlock-lock. If that doesn’t work, you probably don’t have remote start. Those are the two primary remote start combos

For me its lock-lock-lock but hold the third one for about 2 seconds. There is probably an easy way to look somewhere but I'm not sure where it gets installed

A watched a couple YouTube videos before I started and it ended up being a straightforward problem free install. Took less than 90 minutes start to finish. If you have the Toyota glass breakage sensor under the AC controls (looks like a tiny speaker near the USB port) you have a wire to splice but still easy.

I looked back at the instructions and edited my post. Since you’re pre 2018 without the glass breakage sensor you shouldn’t need to splice any wires.

Even if you had the Toyota remote start, you'd want an aftermarket one.
I can't imagine how pissed I'd be remote starting my truck and having it shut off when you opened the door....

Very happy with my Compustar and Drone mobile module/app..
I use the app a lot more than I thought I would.
Use it more to check voltage than anything...

But if I had a new truck, I'd probably use tech12volts remote start and his phone app module.

I have a 12volt system, best mod to date for my truck especially in Texas.

I had the dealership include the aftermarket Viper remote start. So far I like it; however, I would have liked the model that allows you to use your phone. I do have a 1,000 ft range, which is way better than my wife's stock honda remote start with maybe 50-75 ft.

Pern, mine works 100% reason it was not a just PNP is bc I have an 07 Tundra so I had to tap 7 wires and program the remote it was very easy as per their instructions, I did check with them prior to buying so I knew I had to do that and the other plus is I use my own remote.

One of the easiest, and straightforward installs mods of done to the truck. Love everything about the functionality of the remote start. Paid a little more of the phone app so I can start it from the moon. Only issue was the 15 min timer before it goes into panic alarm mode. Pissed when I first discovered that while it was running in the winter while parked 100 yards away at my mom’s graveside funeral, but then supper excited when it when off after running in our closed garage after my 2 year old daughter found the keys in the house. That little alarm allowed me to ventilate things after that little oops.

You can tap into the white and black “key sense” wire to make it so the alarm won’t go off after it times out. I can find more info on that if you care about it.

My key ring came with a plastic instructions but since it was used the instructions are half rubbed of and missing. Luckily I figured it out. It does turn off when you unlock the door. It is lock, lock and hold lock for 3 seconds. I never remember to do it but it hasn’t been 110 degrees here yet so that will make me remember eventually.

just installed mine from 12volt solutions. Surprised how easy it was to install. Very clear video and pdf instructions. And they are only a phone call away if u need anything. I got the 3x lock kit.
