Does anyone know how to use the ALEXA app? it seems useless to me unless im doing it wrong . I have the app on my phone and linked the Alexa app on my phone to it. I have a 2014 JBL system. Im pressing the "talk" button on the steering wheel and saying "hey Alexa" but the normal toyota junk pops up and asks what would you like to do or something. This is the most useless system I have ever seen as a techie. I think I did a "Toyota EntuneTM App Suite update" this AM on my ride into work.
on toyotas entune site it does not say anything about the recent download or anything about Alexa

this is whats on the site. I did an OTA update so im not sure what version im on.

Can you use Alexa to send a text hands free?

I haven't tried yet. Honestly, I haven't even driven my truck since then (working from home), so all I've done is ask Alexa what's the weather. She popped up with "The current weather in Tucson is"....showed a graphic on the screen and told me the nights forecast.

I went out and tried. She said not supported, but that may be a setting as I had to play with settings/permissions on my phone a bit to get it to work at all.
I did try "Alexa, play heavy metal" and she responded by playing the hard rock/heavy metal station on Amazon Music, and yes there is a screen to pause, thumbs up, etc to go with the music

cool I will play with it more. I was hoping it would let me operate hands free. Like make a simple call without all the usual steps using the default Entune garbage. At least this is a step in the right direction with toyota and Entune. When they started pulling apps rather than adding them I thought the system was Doomed. Alexa is welcome.

Hi SP. Were you able to download the file from the OTA site? Currently the link is not working and i was hoping to find someone with the file so I may update my system. I just got my '14 in Jan and soon after experienced the intermittent rebooting/display freezing. I have to stop, turn off the engine to restart the system in order to get everything to work. So frustrating. I have an '87 Chevy without any issues with the radio... go figure!! LOL

My wife’s 2020 Highlander continues to have random messages popping up about Entune. Nothing seems to work. You can follow Toyota’s directions for fix and it still continues. We will be making our third trip to the dealer for this BS. My wife is getting quite tired of it.
I sure hope this isn’t what I have to look forward to in the new GEN Tundras.
