I used a gas washer all the time until the pump failed. While waiting for a new pump I went to Home Depot and got their smallest electric washer just to do the job I had planned for that day ( I had just started cleaning the back porch when the pump blew up and since I was in cleaning mood that day I did not want to postpone the task). Anyways, now I am so in love with the electric washer I used it all the time. I have replaced the gas washer's pump but have only used it once since, and it was just to test the new pump.

I'm actually in the market this year for an electric washer. Been using my uncle's Honda washer, after a while I get tired of the noise. Hard to find an electric that pushes between 1.5-2gpm though

15+ years on my electric pump 3500psi/4gpm this thread just reminded me to change the oil. Always remember to have a good filter and a thermal relief (gas or elec) if your pump doesn't shut down automatically.

Amazon Sunjoe was only $70 and if you register with them they will give you a no questions asked two year warranty after registration. I use mine with and extra attachment to run my MATCC foam cannon. Sure I have a gas one that is 3100PSI but, I want to keep my paint.66E3762C-8637-4664-AC71-AE942FAE6230.jpg

I have the HF Electric, it's ok, not great. Dragging the electric cord around is kind of a pain, but it gets the truck washed. I wouldn't use it for anything serious though!

I'm going to make one suggestion to anyone getting their first electric pressure washer: Try to avoid the ones that have the hose reel near the top of the unit. The one I have been using for a couple of years now has that and it drives me nuts. When spraying the hose gets very rigid and doesnt want to cooperate with you as you navigate around your truck or project and if the hose is connected at the top of the unit, if its not got a sturdy wide base it will fall over. I have broken off the handle to roll up the hose, so its a pain to roll it up now, and I'm always haveing to manuever it around to keep it from faling over. I wide base one with things mounted lower (like in the on up above) would prevent these issues.

Its more of a nit pick than anything, but if you have the option ot choose I'd consider it.

Most of the reels on the consumer grade units are not robust, and the hoses that come with them are not the most flexible on the planet....not a good combo. When I finalize my wall-mounted setup, I'm gonna spring for a good quality hose (maybe Kobrajet) and reel (Ely). Both can be pricey....but I plan on not having to replace them

I just purchased a Ryobi/Honda 3300psi gas powered pressure washer with the idle down feature (saves gas) and a 50 ft hose. Much better than the craftsman I had before. I've used electric, but like the simplicity of only needing to connect a hose.

I have a SunJoe SPX3000 and really like it. Both the GPM and PSI are overstated on almost every electric pressure washer out there. Mine is rated at 2030 PSI and 1.76 GPM.....neither of which are accurate. Even with that, it's a unit that, if it dies, I'd buy another one. It's given me two years of solid performance, and shows no signs of slowing down.

I'm going to buy the SunJoe SPX3000 here soon. What foam cannon would you recommend? Will probably use it for soap and instabead.

Do foam cannons work with smaller electric PWs?

I've no idea what instabead is, but so far I've only used mine for soap. I have one of the 20.00 Amazon knock offs, and I have an MTM PF22, which goes for around 90.00. Does the cheap one work....yes it does. Does the MTM work better, yes it does....without question. MaxShine sells one for about 35.00, and it works well, too. Regardless of which one you purchase, you'll get better foam if you swap the orifice in the foam cannon out. They typically come standard with a 1.25mm one....replace it with a 1.1mm one. It will make a significant difference in the foam you get. The specs on the SPX3000 are overstated at 2030psi and 1.76 GPM. I'm guessing it's closer to about 1400 psi and 1.5 gpm.....still more than enough to do a car.

Question? Would a pressure washer be safe to use on an Alumawood patio awening?

Yes. Depending on the size of the pressure washer, don't get too close if you are concerned, and use a wider angle tip to start out with. But you should not have any problems. I pressure wash my bug screens on my porch and have not had any issues, and those things are not very strong.

Thank you for the response, this is one of the main reasons i am considering buying a pressure washer.

I just got one to wash dirt bike and trucks. So far it's worth it for the 79 bucks.

I picked up the HF one on sale, it's not terrible. Used it several times already. The only problem, can't use my Matcc foam cannon with the type of connector wand has.
