Hey guys, I am looking to upgrade my stock head unit. It is the jbl system with sub. I want a touch screen with blue tooth/Navi/all the goodies. I am android and wife is IPhone so I want it to be compatible with both. Was looking at a few head units but don't know a lot about stereos. I am trying to keep the cost under 400 bucks if possible. Any suggestions or what to stay away from. Thanks.

Crux smartphone intergeation system then add in a media player or a raspberry pi.

Watch videos, activate bypass for in motion functions, mirror any phone.

you lost me before the end of the first sentence lmao. Can I just buy a 2 din all in one system? I am planning on having a local stereo shop install it for me. I just don't want the stereo shop trying to sell me crap I don't want or old discontinued deck to get it off their shelf. If that makes any sense.

    Let my try again.

Pull out the factory head unit and unplug the factory wires.

Plug in the wires from the crux unit. Reinstall the factory wires. Which brings the unit and its controls all back to stock.

The Crux system gives you RCA plug inputs so you can plug in any media player (like a WD live player which you can plug in a USB for movies or music). Crux cost 100$ media player with RCA outputs would cost 40$

You still have steering wheel functions and a video icon that pops up on the screen.

There is a more expensive crux unit that adds wifi into the truck. It can pair and play or mirror anything (apps, gps, movies, whatnot from any phone).

I just stopped by the stereo shop and i was told to put a new head unit, pioneer 7", and a module due to i have the jbl system it would be around 1k bucks. i could also upgrade my whole system to pioneer including a 10" sub and amp, head unit, for about a 1k bucks. not sure what i want to do but i guess i have to buy a module no matter what head unit i purchase. don't really want to spend 1k on a stereo right now.

Meh. Not a huge fan of Pioneer. The screen (8100) is slow to accept input, particularly when entering addresses. The Nav's head explodes anytime I drive near San Francisco (To be fair, mine does as well).

I had a pioneer avic 90bt. I loved it. Has the bypass done, no issues.

So I have a 2004 Tundra with the 6 disc changer and tape deck. I want to change out the stereo just so I have more options with bluetooth and listening to music on my phone and other media. Do I need to buy this Crux item to make an aftermarket head unit work? I have used a audio shop in the past for other systems but I don't want to spend a lot right now and just do the work myself. Has anyone else installed an aftermarket stereo and just put in the head unit and be done? I am not installing an amp or subs.

Eletech my other post has a pic of the new deck I installed and it does have the factory amp still in the dash. Aramirez, I did check out ********* but it did not have anything for my 04 and was a little pricey for me. I am going to install a aftermarket amp later and try and get a sub, but the box I need for the place it can go under the right rear seat is high priced too for just a box. I may try and make something myself.
