I’ve been going through threads on here for a while and figured I’d finally make an account. I have a 2011 SR5 Double Cab I bought in 2014, just payed it off and now I’m throwing around the idea of trading it in for a newer one. Sitting at almost 80k miles right now, Carmax offered me 14.6k for it online but I have a feeling I’d get less than that from them. From what I’ve been able to see online gen 3 tundras REALLY hold their value, I bought my 3 year old tundra for 27k at 28k miles and it looks like 3 year old trucks now with that many miles are selling for around 40k. Would I be correct in assuming that once the new body style comes out, 3rd gen tundras will drop in price? Also I know my tundra needs a wash, took her out some dusty roads yesterday to sling some lead.

It's hard to tell on the 3rd Gen prices dropping bc the 2022 models will be a hybrid V-6 and a twin turbo V-6. The V-8 is going away after 2021. You need to wet sand and clearcoat your headlights. :)

Ps...you will get more money if you sell the truck yourself vs trading it in, especially with your mileage. Here is my lifted 2013 with 95,000 miles and they only wanted to offer me 12K for it towards a 2020. Needless to say I still have it. I wasn't letting it go in it's current setup, and especially not for 12K. As of yesterday they bumped it to 15K.

Aren’t you happy you don’t have a truck payment?
If maybe do some updates to your existing truck, there’s many things you can do, or buy something newer with a truck payment. Good luck which ever way you go.

Oh yea, sending that last payment felt amazing. I’m most likely going to keep it, I’ve been looking at suspension kits all day so chances are that will be my first upgrade.

Good for you Sir. I’ve had two 16s
One new crewmax, one used DC.
I’m glad I got the DC now. I sunk 9k in after market parts, it was nice, big, had every bell and whistle.
Sold it last year. I ended up removing most of the mods before I sold it. Got 6500 from sale of parts and 10k from sale of truck & pay off. 850 each month was a bit of a payment each month.
Now 289 a month for the DC.
My point is, if you change your mind, look at used ones. I found a super deal 16.7 on odometer 4 years old. People think it’s brand new, half the price. Got the color I originally wanted.
Your baby is calling ... good luck sir.
