I’m looking to cut my fuel exhaust over the axel and add 8in exhaust tips. Looking for a deeper throaty sound from my pro? Thoughts?

Replace it with a dirtydeeds exhaust. Tips won't change the noise at all. Even big ass 8" diesel coal rollers bro

Keep it classy. 3.5” tip installed on a dumped exhaust.

But no, no tip will change the exhaust tone.

Why would you do that? I wish my PRO was NOT so throaty. But, I'm probably 30 years older than you. Have fun with it.

I've been thinking of trimming my exhaust pipe in a similar way, but not to get a different sound, but so the pipe won't get bent when driving off-road.

But now I'm wondering it the exhaust exiting very close to the spare tire will damage the spare tire.

Does anyone have experience with this?

What’s the purpose of a dumped exhaust? I see them around here a lot

My Gibson came with a huge (to me) 6" tip.. I threw it on just to see it.. NOPE couldn't leave that thing on there.. looked rediculous.. Id feel like a F350 Diesel poser wanabe.. I like that the tailpipes shorter an inconspicuous without it. I guess if it was tucked up under as you described it wouldnt show like mine did hanging out the back. Still probably overkill IMO an as said won't effect sound

My theory on this is if you off-road you don't want the tailpipes hanging down in the back to get caught on things an bent up.. I'm sure it's primarily personal preference. I just don't really like a flashy exhaust hanging down out back for all to see..

There is a Chevy down the street with a single pipe in the bed and it's not even a diesel. :notsure:

From my experience, it seemed to me that on past trucks, if I had the tail pipe dumped after the axle, the sound seemed to be louder in the cab with the sound reflecting off the pavement under the cargo box. The tone or throatyness was not affected. Additionally, on some vehicles I noticed that having the exit pointed at the roadway, on dusty trails, this tended to kick up more dust under throttle.

Those diesel dudes crack me up with the quote, it’s only got 200,000 or 300,000 miles on it, it’s just getting broken in.... I tell them but ,the rest of your truck is falling apart!!!
