2020 Sprinter-CC PT01 Cross Country Camper Box Build

I've been busy the past few months building this box. I'm 90% complete and but it is 100% functional.


I love being outdoors, cooking and building things. Tent camping became too much work for me. Since I am the one who usually pack, unpack, set-up, cook, etc. Initially I was thinking of building a teardrop with a rooftop tent. But, needing some type of bathroom facility indoors to accommodate my wife's needs. It grew taller and longer.

I sketch the layout on a graph paper and started building it as cost effective as possible. (It did not happen.) I did not take enough pictures to document it since I was too busy building.

Trailer specs:

6x10 3500# single axle on leaf spring suspension
(Will be upgraded in the next couple of weeks with tandem axles 3500# each sitting on Timbren silent ride suspension)
2" ball coupling will be upgraded to Lock n Roll full articulating coupling with extended tongue.
15x7.5 Vision M2 Overland wheels wrapped in 30x9.5 Pathfinder all terrain tires.
7 pin connector ready for brake upgrade.

Camper box specs:

3/4" cabinet grade saved plywood
3/4" foam insulation
1/2" pvc panel interior walls and ceiling
4 upper cabinets and 2-3 drawer base cabinet
Stainless steel prep table with sink
10 gallon fresh water tank
13 gallon grey water tank
GE drinking water filter
6000 btu window air conditioner
Maxxair exhaust/ intake fan
Iceco VL60 dual zone fridge/freezer with slide out
2-100 watt monocrystaline solar panels
30 amp mppt charge controller
100ah 12vdc gel cell battery
Noco genius 2600 battery charger
30 amp shore power
Stainless steel slide out prep table (Slide out will be modified or deleted after tandem upgrade)
OVS 270° Awning
Camplux 5 Liter portable instant hot shower
Coleman stove grill combo
Thetford porta-potti

Whats the exterior finished with? Just paint?

Thanks. Exterior finish is primer, acrylic roofing paint and will be finalized with rustoleum oil base paint.

Awesome, wish I had those skills... On a side note SprinterAE86 does your username have anything to do with the Carolla "AE 86" aka sprinter? Reason I ask is I used to have a Red 85 Carolla GT-S hatch.. Never built it up how I wanted I was young an had no money an ended up selling but will always be a fan..

Installed brakes on the camper and tested/calibrated the Redarc brake controller. So far so good. Ready for the 2K trip to Canada next week!

Border are only open for essential workers and Canadian citizens. Which my wife and kids are. I can only go in through them.

I'm in North Florida Tundra Facebook group, but never had the chance to do any meets with them due to Covid-19.

 

Dual citizenship is a great thing.

 

My friend has a driver's license in both Canada and NY.

He goes to Canada with his Canadian passport and comes to the US with his US passport. So jealous,. Lol

 

The slide out cooler is a great idea.
