I bought luminex and installed it before I installed the headlights.

Pretty easy install? I assume it's the same one for the OEM headlight that you get directly from them?

Yes, wasn't bad. I used my heat gun to warm it up when going on the side. It tried to wrinkle otherwise. Couple of finger prints on the first one. KEEP YOUR FINGERS WET. But they laid down nice after a couple days in the sun. Can't even see them now.

It says to use filtered water, I have distilled water and used that. It comes with a small mister and squeegee.

    Same one as OEM.

installed the headlights and am happy to report that the hilux wire harness off ebay to enable auto-leveling works! the feature didn't come out for the tundra until 2010 so very happy to have it on my 08 now especially after lifting to 4/2 i can easily point them down a little.

it's great but i've been on stockers for 12yrs so don't have much reference. got them on late then had to take care of other stuff so will be messing around with them more today. need to make sure the high beams are leveled with each other. saw a post where someones lows were ok but highs weren't.

When adjusting the height level of your lights, did you do so at 25 feet away from the surface and 4 feet from the base of your surface to the top of your bright spot? Best practices here? Watched lots of YouTube videos, but came across a write up mentioning Toyota recommends a 10 foot distance. Current level seems a bit high to me is all.

I haven't messed with mine lately but I'm also lifted so I have no idea what the best aim is. Sounds like it's time for @Headlight Revolution to chime in. :)

Morimoto should really remove the rotation warning sticker from the housings because it confuses alot of people, especially since they have to be adjusted right out of the box. 20200522_101251.jpg

I emailed HR about 2 or 3 weeks ago specifically about those fog lights, and was told they are not dot approved.

I did get a response back from them. I think it was from a lady; forget her name, and I have since deleted the email. My email stated: "Is the, Vision X 07-11 TOYOTA TUNDRA FOG LIGHT KIT WITH XIL-UMX4010, street legal, or are they off road only?" Her words were like; The xb foglights are not DOT approved, so I don t think they are street legal. Something like that. I was prepared to purchase them at that time, but when I got that reply I give up on the idea.

I assure you that they are fully DOT-Compliant just like your OEM Headlights & Fog lights are! If you peek on the Lens, it does have the SAE Approval stamp visible. :) I believe you may have been speaking with one of our Newer agents on the phone who joined the team just prior to everyone working from Home, so they might not have been sure. The Vision-X Kit you are refering to is not DOT-Compliant, that much I do know!

Sorry for the Confusion on that one, Jack. If you do plan on putting an order in, make sure to PM me for our Military Discount, I see that Marine Corps. Badge! :hattip:

Did you order from the Luminex website? I just took a look and they offer a set of headlight covers for 2007-09 Tundras and another kind for 2010-13 Tundras... I thought the OE headlights were the same shape from 2007-13? I just ordered Morimoto XB headlights and they are listed as being for 2007-13 Tundras. As far as I knew, the headlights were the same shape from 2007 to 2013, and when you order Morimoto headlights, they don't ask what specific year, as long as it falls in that range. I wonder why Luminex differentiates between 2007-09 and 2010-2013?

If you look headlight covers for a 2009 Tundra the part number is T018CL https://lamin-x.com/toyota-tundra-07-09-headlight-covers.html
If you look headlight covers for a 2010 Tundra the part number is T034 https://lamin-x.com/toyota-tundra-10-13-headlight-covers.html

My Tundra is a 2009, but that's probably a moot point since I'm installing Morimoto headlights and Morimoto list the same headlights for 2007-2013 Tundras. Which Laminex covers did you or anyone else buy for your Moritmoto headlights?

I also ordered the Morimto XB fog lights. And yellow Laminex fog light covers. They're all on their way, haven't received any of them yet, but I'm thinking I'd almost prefer clear covers for the fog lights and also would be good to put clear on the headlights while they're still new before they get stone chips, pit marks, fading, etc. I'll still keep the yellow covers in case I change my mind later, but I'd like to order clear fog light covers (that's easy, only one option there), but which headlight covers should I order 2007-09 or 2010-2013? I'd rather not order both.

Actually, it looks like Laminex differentiates between the fog lights too!:annoyed:

    2007-2009 T118 https://lamin-x.com/toyota-tundra-07-09-fog-light-covers.html
    2010-2013 T134 https://lamin-x.com/toyota-tundra-10-13-fog-light-covers.html

I thought the headlights and foglights were the same right through 2007-2013... When you order Moriomoto (or any other headlights or fog lights it seems, they don't ask you what year truck you have, as long as it falls within that range)... so why does Laminex differentiate? :help:

So looking at the part numbers on SparksParts, they are the same. The fog lights are the same part number for the 09 as well as my 13. If you look at the headlight, if I look at the part number for the non leveling option, it is the same part number for your 2009. That is probably why it is listed differently but the shape of the lenses are the same.

I don’t know why they have 2 different part numbers for 07-09 & 10-13 headlights but this is the part number I ordered T018CL for my 09 from the Lamin-x website.
    They fit perfectly.

Ah, ok. Thanks for that info! So the difference is actually internal (the 2010-13 could have come with the headlight leveling option) but the exterior shape of the lens is the same if I understood that correctly? If so, it won't really matter which version I order? I can see if the internal components are different, but why would Luminex bother differentiating between the model years if the exterior shape of the lenses is the same?

If I were to pick one headlight year range, since I'm forced to (and shouldn't make any difference anyways), I'd probably choose the 2010-13 then, since the Morimoto headlights come with the leveling motors. Again, not that it should affect the shape of the lens, but I have to pick one.

Speaking of the leveling motors, since I'm paying for that feature with the Morimoto XB headlights, I might as well make use of it. Looks like I can buy the switch and wiring for it for about $100 and make it functional! I would not have paid extra for headlight leveling motors, but the Morimoto headlights come with that feature regardless (and probably makes owners of trucks that have that feature very happy, and a good sales feature Morimoto has over other brands). It would come in handy when I have my travel trailer hitched up and the back end sits a bit low making the front end end sit up a bit. My previous 2011 Tundra Limited had that feature.

Did you put those on stock headlights or Morimoto headlights?
