Not the most sexy of postings. I'm ready to get myself a decent floor jack. I'm doing more of my own maintenance these days and asked one of my neighbors about his floor jack. His is from HF and he swears it hasn't given him any trouble in 5 years, but I'm always skeptical about getting lowest budget item. Especially, when I'm crawling under a 3 ton vehicle. I doubt that I'll need one for lifting more weight than my Tundra, but wondering if any thoughts on this one, or can you recommend another option. https://www.bendpak.com/shop-equipment/floor-jacks/rfj-3tp/

I recently bought this one at HF. It came highly reviewed and is one of their more expensive models. I needed the extra height. So far so good. 20200603_191411.jpg

+1 for this HF jack. Very good quality. Several of my friends have it and we all swear by it.

    HF Jack.jpg

Here's an ancient HF floor jack that's been to hell and back. Gifted to me by my compadre that abused it by jacking tree stumps out of the ground which warped the frame completely.
I took it to work and straightened out the frame as best I could ~ to this day only 3 wheels touch the ground when I maneuver it around.
It still works like a champ in spite of the abuse. I can't help but think the newer HF Daytona floor jack is heads and shoulders above this one in quality and dependability.
Never get under a vehicle that's supported by a jack of any kind ~ always use good quality jack stands. My needs are very simple ~ if I need another jack I will go to HF to buy a new one.

I have an old Craftsman pro and a costco low profile one. I tend to use the old craftsman most of the time.
I also use jack stand and wheel chokes plus the tire that was removed to block the frame in case of jack failure.

Yep, even craftsman now. What isn't made in China will cost $$$ and everyone is about saving money.

Another Daytona user, I opted for the low profile with long reach. Low enough to get under my car and lifts high enough to get my truck up. Also using Esco jack stands, very good design.

I had that exact same orange HF jack years ago, and had some young welders make me a handle for it...worked great, then left it at my wife's grandfathers farm, which got sold 5+ years ago. Great jack!
Now, I use a 40+ year old Craftsman as my go-to. Have an aluminum CM, but it tends to slowly lower when left in the up position with a load on it.

I have 3 aluminum race jacks from Craftsman and 2 from Harbor freight and I believe that the Harbor freight are a little better jack to my surprise. Like someone else said they are all made in China anyways which is a shame.

Thanks everybody. I'll chill on my HF bias and keep an open mind.

Try bleeding it. My old aluminum jack was doing the same, I cracked the bleeder and pumped a few times and tightened it again, problem solved.

I have an HF jack and an old no name China jack I inherited. Both work fine.

About your comment on safety and low budget items when crawling under a vehicle. I'm sure you didn't mean that you would be working under a vehicle supported by a jack only, but I wanted to check. Make sure to use a jack stand. Before I did my suspension, I bought the Hein-Werner HHW93506 stands. Very stable, plenty tall enough and the supports are wide enough for the frame to sit inside of.

Have 2 HF jacks, lo pro and regular. Never had a problem with either one. Like everyone else spend the $$ on some quality stands and never trust a jack by itself when you are under the truck.
