I am interested in improving performance and was considering installing Doug Thorley shorty headers. Is there any feedbacks from anyone that have installed or known somebody that installed these headers?

    bump

I’m putting on one of Keith’s catbacks with an eye toward a SC down the line. I understand that headers don’t really move the needle after the SC is installed. Are these worthwhile in the meantime while I save up for the SC?

I was going to do long tubes, but if it doesn’t make a big difference when you add a SC, I thought I’d save the money. I’m all ears though.

Headers in general short tube or long tube doesn't make difference with a supercharger. You will not gain anything if you put headers with a supercharger.

that’s been my understanding. I’m not getting the SC immediately. I’m just wondering if the short tubes (cheaper) will make enough of a difference to justify the expense while I work toward the SC.

edit: if I wasn’t planning to get a SC, I’d get the long tubes immediately, but I’d have also ordered a true dual exhaust. By the time I bought all of that though, that’s a lot of money to put toward stuff that ultimately won’t make a difference when I have a SC, and budget-wise it pushes the SC further out. I’m just looking for a little (less expensive) gain over stock while I save my pennies for the SC.

I would stick with tune, intake and exhaust for now. I had bullydog tuner set on premium the hottest tune and it was amazing than i put shorty headers on than i had to put it on trail tune because it was going to lean on premium. Going from premium to trail i lost some power alittle because its really rich like 11.2 at wot instead of 13.5. Moral of the story go get a nice tune bullydog, dap, ov tune they are all pretty good, single exit exhaust so you dont lose low end torque dirty deeds and i have trd intake with sabm which made a difference also..

man, that’s awesome info, thanks! I’m still learning. I do have a bully dog platinum and a sabm on my work bench waiting to be installed. my single exit bamuffler system will be here in a few weeks. I’ve also installed the TRD air flow accelerator and put in a AFE dry filter.

it’s a nice truck, but I miss the giddyup of my old 07 TRD.
