They all do. I don't see many 1/2 tons in that config on the road, mostly 3/4, but they do offer it.

Exactly, no 1/2 tons. You have to step up to the big boys to get a 6-8' bed in a crewcab

I said you don't see many 1/2 ton. There definitely are some. It's been an option on the big 3 for quite some time.

Thanks for all the responses guys. I’m glad it seems like it’s not as bad as people make it sound with the car seats.

I too would jump on a Crewmax 6.5 bed. Problem is with these Tundras is who knows how long it’ll be until it’s “no longer economical to keep it”.. I bought mine with 131k on it.. and I don’t see it giving out on me anytime soon

So if you we’re starting fresh and and buying a new truck would you just get the crewmax to start or would you have kept your choice and went double cab?

I haul stuff all the time, so I need the bed space. I’d still get a Double Cab for that reason.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I wna thank both @texasrho83 & @Njmike13 for these pics. I have been very interested in being able to get a 6.5' bed in my next truck, but I want a Tundra, can't stomach the price of the Gen 3s that come w CM & 6.5', and have 3 kids.

Having the ability to put 3 car seats in the truck is an obvious must, but all the stuff they need for the trips we take means we need a 6.5' bed. Now that I know I can get a gen 2.5 DC and fit my kids in the back, while the wife and I remain comfortable, my decision is much easier.

Now the question is, 6.5' or 8' bed? Lol. The 8' will still fit in my garage... Gotta go for some test drives!

Thank you both very much for the pics!

You're welcome bud. It's what we do on this forum.

As to whether you should go longer on the bed, ask your woman whether she thinks size matters or not ;)

I second the thanks on this! I'm looking at Tundras now, hoping to pick one up tomorrow. My 3 year old is almost the size of a 5 year old so I was a little concerned about the DC rear seat room. This thread helped a lot!

I've got my eye on a couple options here in the Houston area and with any luck I'll be posting some photos of one in my driveway soon.

Please share when you have them! My wife and I are not tall people, I'm 5'9" and she's 5'4", but the last thing I want is another vehicle where I can't sit at regular distance from the wheel due to my rear facing car seat

I'm 5'11", not especially tall but I like to sit with some leg room when I drive. Here's the car seat behind me in my comfortable sitting position. I also sat in the back seat with the front in that position and was able to fit comfortably enough that I'd be ok on a road trip if I had to ride there.

I did put a cover to prevent my son from scuffing up the back of my seat...but I even did that in my previous vehicle, which was a Subaru and they're known for having plenty of rear seat space.

The Tundra double cab actually has more space in the rear than my wife's '21 4Runner, which is our main family hauler vehicle.

I’ve been running two carseats in a DC for years now and about to add a third one. Anything rear facing pretty much has to go in the center. The small seats like Graco Tranzitions are great for 3+ ages as they are a full carseat but very thin depth wise and lightweight/simple, my 6yo uses one of those and sits behind me (6’3) just fine. If you put the car seats on the driver side you can still access the under seat on the passenger side. Also the back seat fold down mod works too in that setup. The Gen 2.5 DC is the reverse mullet of the Toyota lineup, party up front and business in the back.

Looks like a Graco 4ever or similar convertible Graco model.

Ponderosa_Pine nailed it. It's a Graco 4ever Deluxe if I remember correctly. We have the same ones both in my truck and the wife's 4Runner.
