Got some good news yesterday. Had a couple QC issues with their Overland XL RTT. Talked to them on the phone, they are sending me a new one!
With that said, now that I know the wife likes camping in it, the new one will be for sale soon if anyone is interested in a entry level RTT to fit the whole family. I found a CVT with annex I want to buy.

Fyi we need a camping and overland sub forum @T-Rex266 hint hint

Too bad you're on the other side of the continent. I've got the jr. version and wouldn't mind upsizing.
Nice to hear that Smitty is taking care of you 'cause I've got their trailer too.

Got it. Is it something that can be mounted on the roof if I have the cross bars. I like to keep the bed empty.

Most often it's mounted over the bed on a rack or bed bars. On SUVs they're mounted on racks above the roof. It might be possible to mount on a rack to the roof of a Tundra too?

You would need more than roof bars. You would need a full on roof rack for this tent.

Ditto^^^ Go Rhino might have a roof rack that can handle a RTT setup. The thought of getting a RTT is growing on me.

I never really wanted one for the truck. Then we spent a few days in Death Valley and every night it was really dusty sleeping in the back with a soft topper as my 'tent'. A couple weeks ago we went to Buck Lake and I moved the RTT from the trailer to the truck. Holy pigeon poop Batman...... It was soooo frickin nice! Well, the RTT lives on the trailer 'cause the truck has work to do but when I take the wheeling trips with the BASTRDS I've found it is deffinitly worth the effort to move it to the truck.

What type of trailer do (did) you use it on? Like one of those Turtlebacks?

I found a screaming deal on CL. It's a Smittybilt trailer and came with the jr. size Smitty RTT.

I saw CVT is making trailers now too, but they're like $7000 not including tent and they don't seem to be much more than a storage box on wheels. All the useful ones are $20K plus it seems (Patriot, Turtle, etc.). Thanks, I'll check out Smitty.

It doesn't make sense to me to put an RTT on a trailer that has a big top opening lid. Doors with slide out drawers just makes more sense..... to me. For the price and the features, the Smittybilt is hard to beat. Personally, I'd get it w/o wheels, then buy wheel adapters to change the lug pattern and run the same tire/wheel combo as the truck.

You probably should look into a cap for the truck and mount it to that. Then move it to which ever vehicle.

Dont like the cap. Will add 20 years to my age. Let me see if i can be creative. The goal is to mount on the roof so the bed has the space. I m inclining towards this instead of getting a travel trailer.

Hello, I am in the market for a new cover for my new truck. Are you able to use there Bakflip cover, folding it up to expose the bed, all under the bed rack above?
