So, I recently ordered some speakers that were size 6.5 for my 2001 Tundra since that is the size that most people say they use. From what i understand though, is that the size is actually 6.75. Has anyone found some decent speakers that will fit (6.75) without a adapter? I'm trying to stay under $300 for the front and the back.

Maybe just use crutchfield and enter in your truck info. It will show you speakers that will fit without modifications.

I wouldn't limit my options on the front speakers to what size will fit without having to use adapters. Adapters are cheap. I made my adapters for $8 using a 2 piece plastic cutting board set from Harbor Freight.

Something to remember is that the JBL system uses 2 ohm speakers and most aftermarket head units are designed to use 4 ohm speakers.

If you're using an aftermarket head unit and bypassed the JBL amp you should replace all your speakers to 4 ohm rated ones. If you're running the JBL amp you should replace your worn out speakers with 2 ohm rated ones.

Using the wrong ohm rated speakers could overheat the head unit or amp.
