Well that was fun. Step ladder, tape measure and a level looks like just under 82” or 6’10” to the top of the shark fin.

I preferred the regular cab but Toyota quit making them when I bought my DC in 18 no regrets here I’ve had 6 people in mine a couple of times not extremely comfortable but doable on short trips I think if you travelled all the time or had 3 or more kids CM would be a must, rumor has it Toyota is going to do away with the DC when they come out with the next gen and your only choice would be a CM if this happens this would be a HUGE mistake and I’ll be keeping this DC for a long time if that happens.

This is hilarious, exact same conversation I had with my friend. I became a believer! Enough so that I sold my Tacoma and recently purchased a Tundra CM. Have never looked back

You know what I use every time is the back cup holders on the center console, with the wifes water tumbler and coffee tumbler I have to use the back ones. Not on a CM.

Love my DC but the cm is huge for cabin space. Only time I would ride in the back is if I have had a few to many adult beverages, then I won't care about space. Any passengers that complain about the back seat can ride in the bed or drive their own. Is easy to say because only daughter is married with her own truck, so only me and wifey. If I was starting a family might have to think a little more. I also needed the bed space much more than cab space. ( barely have enough friends to fill the DC as is)

You lost all credibility with the purchase of two fords. lol

( I agree with the red tho, wifey's Rav4 is red and shows everything. )

    MGM is the best color

Coming from a regular cab long bed there was no way I could settle for the short bed that comes with the crew max. So I had to look high and low for a double cab long bed 4x4. Couldn’t be happier!

well even stock is 76.2" or 77.2" (with TRD package), so you are right at the edge before lifting anything.

When I was buying my 2020 I was set on getting a DC but at the very last second I switched and decided to get the CM and MAN am I glad I went with the crew. So much more interior space. I have kids so interior space is a big deal for me. I think I would have regretted getting a DC. But if you don't have many passengers with you need the extra bed space then ultimately its your decision. Plus I love rolling the back window down on the CM. :)

So, I’ve heard a lot of great arguments for both configurations. I personally love the DC because it suits our needs, and I recommend everyone try the DC.

I tried to read through all the comments but did skip a few pages, and I never saw anyone actually answer your question...

I’ve never heard anyone say they _regret_ buying the double cab.

I _have_ heard people say they regret buying the crew max.

I have owned 5 Tundras. 03 DC/08 DC/13 DC/07 CM/ and now 2020 CM. I really think the DCs look a little odd and the back seat is a little cramped for my grand kids. Love the roominess of the CM. Both are great trucks. This may be my
last truck so I really wanted the bigger cab. I don't haul much besides my sidexside on a trailer so the bed is a non issue for me. Can't go wrong with either.

Crew max is crazy spacious but my dc is only 1-2" less leg room in the back than my old '07 F150 crew cab so basically I get just about the same room I previously had and a 6.5' bed which I need.

I came from a 2001 Tundra access cab, so for the longest time I wanted a new double cab. But once the baby was on her way, I realized I can always adapt for additional bed space (mainly, ratchet straps solve all problems), but you can never make up additional interior space. And I was ALWAYS jealous of my fathers Ram Megacab.....that thing was like a bouncy limo lol

Also, one extra foot of bed space is overrated when you have ratchet straps! Things were always overhanging the edges and back of my old 6.5' bed, so I knew in reality a 5.5' bed wouldn't really negatively impact me much, even though I am always using the truck, like a truck. The additional interior space, for me, is just too valuable when I need it. And yes, rear facing car seats take up so much damn room it's nice to have the extra depth inside.

This is about 800 lbs of concrete, a bunch of pressure treated 4x4s, and I think seven 8' long fence panels. :muscleflexing: There is always a solution.

hahaha I see I responded just a little to late! ;) Congratulations on the new truck! The DC vs CM debate will never end, but no matter what, these are awesome trucks, and you're going to love it!

I have two kids and two car seats (2yo and 4yo) and Crewmax was a non negotiable for me. So glad i did. the extra leg room is absolutely amazing for storage since i have two car seats taking up the back seats at all times.

EDIT: I posted this before I saw you already bought. lol As long as its a tundra, you wont be disappointed.

This. I've said "Hrm, might be nice to have an extra foot of bed space" maybe once since I've I owned the truck. I've said "MAN am I glad I have the extra room in the back seat" literally HUNDREDS of times.

Additionally, as you've said, it all depends on what one feels the need to adapt to. Very rarely have I carried anything in the back of my truck that *required* 6.5'; and the few times that's the case, the requirement was easily satisfied by stacking stuff higher. LOL

I've got a 6' x 14' trailer, and that sort of makes up for the extra foot of space I lost in the bed. On top of all that, I'm sure I could buy one of those extend-a-beds, or whatever they call them.

I remember reading somewhere that "Man, you can play baseball in the backseat of the CrewMax!"

It may be an exaggeration, but not by much. LOL

HAHA yea i feel like thats true. I have my rear seat 3 clicks forward to accommodate my sub, and people still make comments about home much room there is. Their mind is blown once i tell them about the sub.

Yup, that's always been my solution too, stack it higher or use the trailer. I just keep a dozen ratchet straps in the truck. Honestly, they are the most useful "tool" I've ever had. I won't leave home with them lol.

There are times I'm definitely jealous of my brother's 8 foot bed, but honestly, if I were to have an 8 foot bed, it would need to be a 3/4 or 1 ton truck. The payload on Tundra is just too low and it would be waaaay to easy to overload an 8 footer.

Got the crew max because its also my family hauler. Tons of space inside and wife and kids love it. The short bed is a problem tho if you use the bed a lot.

The trade off is a longer bed, 12” in the bed is more useful for me than in the cab. Now if I had full grown children then that perspective would probably change. For now my five year old has another five years before I hear any complaints on leg room

@Pepperonipizzzza Congrats on the truck! It looks nice, and in the end, both have plenty of usable space for anything that a 1/2 ton truck will do on a regular basis. I find it slightly comical that people are so passionate about their cab choice, when in the end either one is really capable of what 90% of us do 90% of the time. #Allcabsmatter #WeallgetthesameMPG #Alltundrasarespecial :p
