Nice. I added an RV wifi backup camera for my 2006 SR5 in addition to my 4 Fog lights in the front of my deer guard. It is extremely helpful when I tow my boat trailer.

Did some work on the pinch welds to fit future 35’s.

Just re-geared my truck with 4.88's and a Truetrac. Current tire set up is 285/75/17 (33.8).
Just for scientific purposes, I swapped my 35's from my tacoma onto the tundra to see what my RPMs are taching. Driving at "70MPH" (GPS says 80MPH), my RPMs read 2700-2800. With my 33.8, driving at "70MPH" (GPS says 77MPH), I'm taching @2500-2600.

I'll continue to drive the truck with my 33.8. We'll see how the MPG is and how the truck reacts to the new gears.

@sflips I took the entire truck to my located shop in So Cal. I bought my gears and truetrac from https://www.justdifferentials.com/. I would call them and talk to Al, anyone would be fine but Al helped me. For someone to install it, I would do a google search "Off road shops near me" and read the reviews about gearing and then call the shop you seems to like. Hope this helps.

Cool build @2006Tundra ! Did you do anything w/ UCA's? Stockers giving you decent alignment numbers and road handling w/ the 3" lift?

    Thanks.

Right now I'm using the stock UCA and have been for the past 4 years. The Alignment is good and handling is good but I am limited with travel using the stock UCA. I just picked up my new UCA from Solo motorsports. I'll be putting those on in a few weeks. I'll post pics.

Thanks! I'd love to see some pics once you've got them on (or just of the truck sitting to see the suspension/lift).

That's good to hear on the UCAs. I am getting new coilovers on Tuesday (should be 2-2.5") up front and curious to see how it sits and how things align w/ stock UCA's before I consider new aftermarket ones.

I'll post some pics. Waiting for my new inner fender wheel well covers to come in.

You should align just fine. I never had an issue but I'll bet you're going to want to buy new UCA. I kept putting it off for years but I was tired of the UCA hitting my coil at full droop.

You got a line on Kings’s for the rear? I’ve got a thread going comparing suspension options and can’t find anything for the rears. Kings are on the list but I’m leaning towards icon to keep everything on the truck matching

Hey guys! My Dad has the 06 Tundra, Double Cab, 4.7L. He was on his way to Walmart when the engine just died.... not a sound, but had smoke. Unfortunately, he passed away suddenly 7 days later. He initially thought that it was the timing belt. So I've decided that I'm going to fix it since he didn't get a chance to.

Does anyone know where to get the tools I need to do this right? For cheap?

I'm waiting to hear back from Solo Motorsports. That's where I get my parts and they're a KING authorized dealer. I'll let you know what I hear.

4.88's are good. Still in the break-in process. Speedo is still off but according to my research, my 06 gets its speed from 3 different locations. The ABS and 2 sensors in the tranny. So far there is no company that successfully made a speedo calibration tool for an 05-06 Tundras. I'm going to have to live with the speedo being off. On the plus side, my RPM's are correct according to Al from JustDifferentails.

Hi, I'm sorry to hear about your father. I'm not sure what tools you'll need but I most definitely would buy Toyota made parts. Do not cheap out on anything related to your motor.

Also forgot about my gears that were installed about a month ago. Almost done breaking them in.

    4.88's and a Eaton TrueTrac.

Did you already post on it? As far as connections, cabling, etc? If not would you mind sharing how you connected you amp to your battery?

How do you like the 4.88's? Too low of gearing for the 4.7?

I'm still debating if I geared to low. It has the power off the line but cruising speed the RPM's are a little too high for me with the tire size I currently have.

What size tire do you have and do you plan on towing?

Right now I have 295/70/17 but plan to eventually switch to 285/75/17 as I liked that size on my previous truck. We are talking about getting a travel trailer for summer use but that would be only 5-10 trips a year so no consistent towing.

I have 285/75/17 (33.8"). You may want the 4.88's since you're towing that many times a year. I only towed once since I got my gears and I didn't feel I was towing something. But when I'm not towing my RPM's at 75MPH are 2500-2550 and I feel that that's a little high for daily driving. I may end up changing to 4.56 but it depends on the new tire choice I want to go with. I'm looking at Toyo M/T and they're slightly heavier than my current tire so we'll see.

With that being said, do what I did and called either https://www.nitro-gear.com/ or https://www.justdifferentials.com/ . Tell them you're gear shopping. Tell them what truck you have, tire size and stock gears and your needs. They'll steer you into the right direction.

Current tire - Future tire -
