Just picked up a very clean 2006 tundra with 111k mi. Unfortunately the timing belt has not been replaced so that is my first task. Wondering if anyone can recommend a good kit to purchase and from where. Also I watch a few videos on the process but did not see any for a 2006 and was wondering if there is anything different due to VVT?
    Thanks.

I just discovered this kit from another member here a few weeks ago. Its all OEM parts. Its everything you’ll need if your cam/drive seals are leaking the kit has them, as well. Best to do them with the Timing Belt while its all open.

Otherwise, just use the Aisin kit from online retailer. Its OEM basic without the cam/drive seals. You should replace your radiator if it has some age. Again, just do it while you are in there.

If you aren't replacing cam seals, then there's no difference.

If you are replacing cam seals, then you're tackling a huge project. Cams have to come out and get disassembled to access the seal.

Chester is correct. Cam seals on the VVT are beyond 95% of DIY'ers capabilities. I think there was a thread on here showing it's been done, but it is daunting to disassemble the cam phasers and get them back together, and timed correctly. But I guess that's the price you pay for the extra 55hp. Pay attention to the thread about indicator and timing mark position. Some have said the VVT cams have a tendency to rotate out of position once the belt is removed. Hand Model is right about the radiator, after 14 years it's a preventative maintenance item.

    We have sister vehicles!

My used 2006 is at 112k though the belt and water pump were already done at 75k(previous owner).

If you tackle this job, please share your experience, there can never be too much information IMO.

    Good luck!

Thanks for the info. Hopefully will not find the cam seals leaking.
