Glad to help. There is no way to ensure anything other than take a chance OR buy a new unit. Maybe you could find one at a local junkyard or online junkyard and have them open it up for you before purchase. This “ensures” you.

Same story here with my project TRD I'm rebuilding. Had the flashing 4HI light and no 4LO.
I ended up buying a new front ADD actuator and found a very clean used Transfer Case actuator located in California. It came from a Sequoia. The motor on the Trans case actuator was frozen, and even after disassembly, cleaning, lubrication and reassembly, it wouldn't work.

So, I would find one from a climate like California or Nevada, to reduce the likelihood of purchasing a corroded unit.

Also, I purchased one from a seller who carried a 60 day warranty. After installing both actuators, I tested the system and all is well.

Can you drive with 4hi on, on the dry highway? I want to get some good miles in with 4wd on but not sure if that would damage anything. I think its okay because your not making any sharp turns at low speeds which would bind any gears..

Yes, as long as you are driving straight. The Toy Manual says to do this on a regular basis.

That sounds a little bit impossible, your bound to have to turn a little. But thanks!

Yeah a little turning/swerving is bound to happen on a road. Less than when 4 wheeling!
