Update, turns out I have 5 2x6x10s left over, sooooo we are going to add them to the framing and instead of joist being 24in on center they will be 12in on center, figured what the hell might as well use them vs returning them...

Start again in the morning for about 3-4 hours, should finish on Tuesday.

Coming along nicely. I wish were we lived houses were built so we could do things like add a deck. Out here in the desert everything is a concrete slab.

This place is a slab. The footing is stepped down in several places due to the slope of the land
As a result on the north side there is about a 3ft block wall with fill then a slab poured with the top block used as the form

Reason it's offset like it is.
Where the trailer is parked is the septic tank.

Otherwise I would have run it the width of the side of the house and out 16ft

And it finished, other than stain, and some light sanding here and there.
Ok so the riser height is off, by a couple inches, but that's ok, I can live with it. Miter joints could be a little tighter and I should have gone bigger but I stuck to my budget of $1000 for materials and labor, I had a buddy help me. So over all I am happy, I have a safer step out the door now, and after a couple chairs get added, a galvanized bucket with ice and cold beer all will be well with the world. So here it is, the finished deck..

From the deck to the rail cap its 46in. Which when I lean on it is just the right height for me, and a beer

I thought about the same thing to mine, but after 10 years there are no leaks. I do need to repaint the door and vent stack
