Hey, I’m looking to buy some entry Paddleboards for the family to play with. Thinking inflatable for carrying convenience. I don’t want to spend a fortune, but would like ones that will last 2-3 years. Looking for people with experience to make recommendations.

    thanks

We were in the same situation as you. We own a nice canoe and a few nice sit on top kayaks but the kids were always asking for a paddleboard too. We didn't have room to transport it with all the other vessels, so had to go inflatable

I bought the BodyGlove inflatable from Costco a few years ago. Comes with paddle, pump, repair kit backpack to house it all, lightweight for carrying.

It's going into its 3rd or 4th year without issue. Easily inflated and deflates (10min or less by hand). We keep it pumped up for our 1-2 week camping trips and never see it loose any air.

The kids love it, I love it, backed by Costco warranty. It was about $400cdn, all in at the end of one season. Here is the link to the USA site, same model but a couple years newer

I prefer the canoe or kayak for anything of distance on the water, but the paddleboard is very relaxing. You can sit on it, knell on it, lay on it. It's fun and was a great investment to keep the kids happy and wanting to be out of the water

Whatever you do, wear a PFD and makes the kids wear one too. By law you don't need a PFD if you use the ankle strap on a SUB, but I wouldn't put myself or my kids at risk on the water without one.

Oh yeah....make sure you position the paddle the correct way too. It's one of my pet peeves when I see people holding the paddle incorrectly.
