Really at this point, they're 15-20 year old trucks and the most important thing is what shape they're in, not really the subtle differences.

I kinda like having no air injection and having a dipstick on my trans. I just need a longer one so it'll reach the trans juice...

No there is not a world of difference, I have both. I would not hesitate to get a clean 1 owner 03 for a good deal and would in fact get that over an 05-06 that you dont know history and isn't very clean. I personally don't believe there is any real world difference in MPG in the 05-06 and the 03 AC will feel more powerful than an 05-06 DC because it is smaller and lighter. My 02 Sequoia feels like it has more power than my 05 DC.

I personally think that the pro's of the 05-06 outweigh the cons. If I needed to haul people the double cab would be an easy choice. My 02 has been a great truck though, and even with it's flaws it will be on the road far longer than any comparable trucks from Ford/Chevy/Dodge etc.

I'm amazed by how many 1st gen tundras are still on the road. I see them every day here in Knoxville. The only thing that seems to kill them is rust and wrecks.

I've had an 02 AC, an 05 DC and currently an 06 DC...all TRD 4x4. The determining factor for me (if I didn't need the DC space) when shopping used would be condition and maintenance history muchmmuch than year, vvti or not, or 4spd vs 5spd.

And I really only want a Long Bed Reg Cab which makes it all so much easier and tougher all at the same time!
