I'm glad in the beginning I got me a pair of Noise Canceling headphones........forgot my wife was even hear. O, I mean great while having our roof done today. I think that's essential. Thanks to all the super essential people that are in harms way, like hospital workers, and all the essential people like postal workers, online stores, service people and all the ones keeping America going. Still hanging in there, glad I have plenty to do, wife's working at home and making the food deliveries. Mask, Gloves, social distancing does work. Plenty of Hydrogen Peroxide too. 34% to be diluted to 3%. Also have activated carbon for my home made mask. Being a mechanic who is into fish and gardening, well I was already prepared. Stay Safe.......and Really a BIG thanks to all those that take a risk. :amen:

I work in the swimming pool industry, service, repairs, build. We are considered expendable, er i mean essential. Working 12 hr days. I respect the virus, but i do not fear it. Ive been married for 20+ years, so not much scares me anymore.

Outside of govt, what exactly is a non essential employee?

Edit- before i catch flak for an obvious joke, the difference between govt and private jobs, the private sector is subject mostly to market forces, so there is no need for non essential employees, thus we would never have one. The term “essential employee” is demeaning to anyone not able to work right now

Calibration. Primary clients are life sciences, military, defense contractors. We are quite busy since we are considered a critical supplier. Fun times.

Yeah, working on site two days a week to set up equipment that I can work on three days a week. Sometimes it happens. Sometimes it doesn't.
Like tomorrow and Friday will fall under the doesn't column for having enough things to work on remotely.

I work on Fed property. I have an 'essential' letter and all that fancy shit. Safe is an objective word. As a medium risk Federal employee, I support high and very high risk employees.
Ain't got me yet though. *cough cough*

About to head to the airport for a flight to Philadelphia International, then a drive to Swedesboro, NJ. Will spend a week working there in a crowded distribution center for a major brick and mortar/online retailer. This building has had several confirmed cases, but fortunately have a pretty good mitigation and response plan (at least based on the plan as it has been communicated to me, they won't document it or allow us to have written copies, but they have communicated the plan during safety briefings over conference calls).

I'll be very close to the US "epicenter" of all this crap, in a building with thousands of employees. I'll be home on Friday night, and then back out again for the week of the 25th.

I'm not overly concerned about getting the virus, but I am a little worried about getting it 2000 miles from home and not being able to return.

I was traveling in NH in mid Feb, was getting a little worried about then, pretty sure I got the virus while there. Everyone else on the crew got sick as well. I figured if I got stuck I'd just take the rental car back home and let the business pay for it.

80% of my company's customers are government or military. The tempo has slowed significantly but we're still open.

My coworker today decided he needed some PPE too. I'm so tired of patching drywall.
