Just shopped both. I had an 18’ Tundra Platinum and wanted to move to a newer truck. Drove the Ram Rebel which I completely thought would win and the Raptor. The Raptor was more to explore all options. Spent plenty of time in both the Rebel and Raptor. I now own a 20’ Tundra Platinum. Nuff said.

If in it for the long term than Tundra.....the only truck with a 10 star reliability rating or something like that. :notsure:

Those are very different trucks . I’m not trying to be a smart a$$ so please don’t take this the wrong way but a platinum Tundra is comparable to a Longhorn or Limited Ram . The TRD Pro is the Rebels competition and the Raptor doesn’t have any competition yet , the TRX Rebel coming out next year will be more in line with the Raptor and apparently Chevy is coming out with one too .

I just bought my first Tundra SR5 Crewmax 4x4 two weeks ago, such a great truck, after owning a 2006 RAM 2500 Cummins Turbo Diesel for for FOURTEEN YEARS. I bought it new off the dealer lot in March of 2006.

Over those fourteen years the only work I did was typical front end stuff from the weight of the engine and towing a heavy boat (brakes, rotors, ball & u-joints) one rear tail light and the rad thermostat, it was truly an awesome truck. I almost bought a RAM 1500 but something about the Tundra drew me in knowing I could have fun customizing it.

IMO all truck brands have duds and they all have their pluses and minuses. Buy what you like and what fits your needs and wants.

Wow. I never would have known. Tell me again how they don’t compete with each other. They did for me. They have for others. Tell me, why did I purposely compare the Rebel and not the limited or longhorn to the Platinum. Why did I throw the Raptor in?

If you’re planning on keeping it long term go with the Tundra. My parents love Dodge for some reason but every one they ever owned had transmission issues around 200k miles. Then a costly rebuild. You’re not going to have that with a Toyota.

Get both lol I have 2018 ram 1500 and 2018 tundra tss both great trucks. I use the ram for work and the tundra is my wife’s daily/family vehicle. The tundra toes a lot more and it doesn’t struggle when I add weight to the ram the ass in sags feels kind of Squirrley when towing. Plus the ram comes with a bad ass alpine system stock the tundra comes with garbage speakers and it feels like it has no bass. The in tune system in the tundra lacks but the TOYOTA SAFETY SENSE is a nice feature. The ram feels a lot quicker, the tundra feel more like a tank. The ram exterior is ok, the tundra exterior is aggressive and looks really good. The only thing I wish that the tundra came with from factory was sway bars and the LED headlights which almost any car maker has on their vehicles nowadays. As far as gas mileage go I don’t get any better gas mileage in my ram then I do in my tundra I’m supposed to be getting 22 to 25 mph highway but I’ve never seen that. Are usually average around 15 to 17. The tundra gets 13-14 mpg regardless where I’m driving. So if you plan on keeping it and Reliability is your thing I would go with the tundra. Ive already replaced The lifters in the ram at 7000 miles

I found it odd too, and was curious as to why you chose those trim? No reason to be pedantic.

Rebel and Raptor are off-road oriented vehicles that are in the same off-road oriented market as the Pro and Trail Boss / AT4.

The more luxurious trim of the Platinum are in the same class as the Limited Ram, High Country / Denali, and Limited / Platinum F-150.

Now if you are planning on building your Platinum into a more off-road capable vehicle then it makes sense (it’s also my plan with my Platinum). But you didn’t say anything about that. So I am sure that’s the other guy asked.

Just picked up a new Tundra this AM. Got rid of a 2012 Ram. The ram was good ,but at 150K had the engine eat up the cam. A known issue with the hemi's. We have Toyotas with 170 + miles on them and no issues at all, except for normal wear items.

please post the link to the thread on the ram forum. I’d love to see how many ram owners actually think their truck is superior to a tundra

You don't think all of them? Why buy one otherwise?

I’ve already stated that the Ram forum has told him the same thing , the Tundra would be more reliable
its on the Ram forum 2019 + just search 2020 Ram 1500 vs 2020 Toyota Tundra , you don’t have to be a member to search it .

From the ram forum and I agree:

Between Ram and a Toyota, is a hard choice. Tundras have great performance, great towing and are really reliable.
Buddy works at a local Toyota dealer, and they hardly ever see them come in.
But the interior, screen size, 8 speed transmission to me is a far superior choice.

My first two brand new trucks (age21/24) were both dodge trucks . 1st was a Dakota not a bad truck did pretty good. 2nd was a redesign ram. Constantly in the shop for ball joints after the 4th set and dealer saying I would have to meet them half way on the price for the 5th. I said no thank you. I drove to the car wash and straight to they Toyota dealership. I’ve had 1 taco and 3 tundras . My last one was a 2010 dc with 130k miles . Regular oil changes and service . 100k plugs ,2 sets of breaks and 3 sets of tires. That’s it . I work for a utility company and have driven all the major brands and while the interior of Toyota may be a few years behind the reliability can’t be beat. My advice would be not looking at forums for buying suggestions but rather looking for problems. Search each forum for issues technical service bulletins known issues. As previously stated everyone here is partial to the brand and for their own reason. Good luck with whatever decision you make.
