One more picture before bed. Had to get her washed after being in the shop today.

    Is it the weekend yet?

Do these new amber fog lights work with the factory switch control?

Yes they do! There is a thread on this forum with instructions and parts. You just need a little adapter.

They are amber and I think much more functional in the fog.

The OEM Rigid fog lights have this weird custom install. I don't know why they did it that way. It is not very stable.

Anyway you have to remove the OEM one. The regular Rigid fogs do not have the same mounting system so you have to replicate this.

    https://www.tundras.com/threads/diy-trd-pro-rigid-fog-lights.34224/

Here is the adapter I used...

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01EXWDNTK?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

Here is the bracket I used.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B076C7TZ5M?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

    Here are the lights.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07S7FJP7P?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

Just had to drill one hole and adjust until it was lined up and positioned correctly.

Now it is more sturdy than the OEM one.

Took her out off roading for the first time in 35s. Very nice.

Also, used Apple Carplay with Gaia GPS app. That was really cool! Mapped out my entire route the night before and I just followed the line. I actually forgot to turn on the record feature. Will try that next time.

    Small upgrade today.

Put in some red LED lights into the dome and map lights.

Went out to explore some back roads today. Accidentally/on purpose went through some big old mud puddles I could have easily avoided.

I recently upgraded to 35s and I was not surprised to find out my full size spare did not fit under the truck.

I also figured it wouldn't be a bad idea to have the full size spare and the 33" back up in case things really went sideways.

    So I got this...

    https://wilcooffroad.com/shop/flat-bed-mount-tire-carrier/

This is a two person install job. Luckily, my 8 year old son was a big help.

There were no instructions and the diagram included was from a prior model. I am starting to get used to shit instructions for trucks parts though.

I winged it and, as you can see, I was successful. I just measured real carefully to make sure where I drilled I could get to on the other side.

At about 9pm last night I was sitting in bed and some of the bed holder install wasn't sitting well with me.

I installed the screw down holder and it looked upside down, but it wouldn't fit the other way. I should have gone with my gut.

In my defense, there are no instructions and the diagram isn't even the current model.

I went into the garage first thing this morning and fixed it. I am 99% sure it is correct now.

If anyone gets this and has problems, let me know. I now know the proper order to put the bolts.

See below picture for how it should look when done.

I am tempted to make a how to video on this one, since one doesn't exist.

What problem does this solve? I mean aside from the obvious "the bed is flexing".

I plan on adding more to the rear and apparently, if you do alot of offroading, you can flex your bed until it snaps.

It also gives me a project to keep me occupied while I am stuck at home.

I took video of our Nighttime Offroad Adventure.

I scratched the hell outta my paint. I will be buffing and polishing for the next week to get the scratches out.

I bent both my running boards beyond repair. Rock sliders are now a must. Lesson learned there.

The panel on the driver side rear, with the gas panel, is a little out of shape and needs to be repaired.

My rear bumper has a panel that has popped out.

I will not be doing anything like that again soon. Not at least until I replace the front/rear bumpers with lower profile off road ones, get rock sliders, and get some paint protection.

It was more extreme than I thought it was going to be. Fun, but stressful knowing how much it was going to cost me to fix.

    Kids loved it though.

yeah, I'm trying to take the "run it till it breaks then put on something better" when it comes to bumpers, but don't want to wreck things I could have protected. What do your running boards look like? I've got the n-fab nerf bars, but I'm not sure if they would actually function as sliders since they don't attach to the frame. Also, thoughts on PPF actually protecting the paint or would the brush/trees just scratch right through? Assuming you want clear to keep the voodoo blue showing.

Well, the running boards look like this now.

I really just want rock sliders to protect the truck. Because I bent that side panel because the running boards didn't hold up and weren't properly protecting the side.

Once I get the truck polished, I was thinking of doing a ceramic coating. See picture below to see what it looked like after scratches. I'll also add one of after some buffing and polishing.

Yeah, I am not happy, but with some elbow grease, it looks like I will be able to get it shiny again. I did one pass on a door panel and it looks way better.

I'll either buff it until I can't move my arms anymore, or hire someone to do it professionally.

Either way, no more overgrown trails for me.

ok, so the running board mounts just bent to hell, that makes sense. my mounts look similar and are attached to the body and not the frame 4E152C70-0730-4789-AAC5-236908F54C1E.jpg so I would assume they have a similar fate even if the tube may be stronger.

I was looking at 3m pro or suntek ultra ppf, but still not sure what it would look like after what you went through... seems like it’s really designed for road rocks, not branches.

It is pretty easy. Slide it in and then bolt it to the bottom.

The bolts it came with were not long enough, but I got ones that fit at the hardware store.

Yeah dude. Look into getting actual rock sliders if you are going to do any real offroading.

I hope the body damage I did is easily fixable, but it could have been avoided completely if I had real underside protection and not running boards that fold up and do more damage to the sides of my truck.

I am looking into getting these now.

    https://white-knuckleoffroad.com/product/toyota-tundra-2007-2018-rock-sliders/

It was so bad I couldn't open my drivers side rear door.

yeah, didn't think that one through, I was more concerned with the wife and kids getting in with the lift. Now that I look at frame mounted sliders, that makes way more sense. if something pushed hard on my step, it's going to just bend the body at the mounts. Snapping off is probably better to save the truck. oh well, live and learn.

Spent more time buffing and polishing today. It's not perfect, but it's getting there.

I want to get it to a point where you have to have a close inspection to see the scratches.

Here are some before and after one round of buffing/polishing.
