With the EPA up everyones A@@ who make a trucks ,making them more fuel friendly, so to speak this might be the long term answer for now or (short term) .. Problem with that is when you get into 7 to 9 speed gearbox they are a NIGHTMARE.. You have so many things that can and will go wrong, the more complex it becomes...

If this does come true not rumor like in the link above, i just hope toyotas R&D has put enough man power into building it and researching.... If not toyota will have a mess on there hands just like GM has had for years with some of there engine designs which are so poor.. Even my friend who was a BIG GM man now has turned doesnt like working on them at all anymore..

Imo if toyota was smart you already have a proven engine use that and expand off that.. Make more sense and retooling plants is more easy...

Knowing toyota it will happen and its in the final phase now of R&D..
