This guy, with a custom cherry tool cabinet underneath, plus all the goodies (Dado insert) *AND* the rollers that go underneath. :)

So turns out I'm not laid off.

Long story short we're unionized we were able to bid by seniority on jobs considered mission critical. HR screwed up the job bids and the job requirements were incorrect so they moved me to a job I was "qualified" for by their incorrect standards but not qualified for by normal hiring standards.

So the Union has been fighting with the University since last Friday trying to sort everything out for me and at least 4 other people at my campus that were affected. So since the University screwed up and offered me a position until the end of June I'm going back to working my old job until then or until we get officially recalled.

It's been a stressful week. I'm going to buy more beer.

Wife works at home, and I have been for the last 2 months. We used to have our ISP's router bridged to two Asus RT-AC68Us with a wired backhaul, but it wasn't quite stable enough. Did a bunch of research, and ended up buying Ubiquiti equipment.

With the Asus routers, I used to routinely get 45Mbps (our internet speed is 'up to' 60Mbps). Now I get 64Mbps, whether wired or wifi.

Nice, Asus rocks, built many a PC back in the hayday before Dell started selling for what I made off them. Ubiquiti is high end, if I can get a license for an autonomous license I got a Cisco Aironet 3802 left over from a job that should pop popcorn in my house.

Well yeah; I didn't want to futz around with licensing, plus I couldn't complain - $500 for

    - in wall AP
    - 8-port PoE Switch
    - Nano AP
    - Cloud Key 2
    - USG (router)

Setting it up was the devil's own work as there are some idiosyncrasies specific to Ubiquiti (they all have 'em), but it's been rock freakin' solid ever since then.

And yeah, I'm a big fan of Asus; I had no issues with them, but simply needed a more reliable/stable connection.

I just ordered their Dream Machine Pro for the house. Already have a few of their AP's, 24 port POE switch and the small USG but need a firewall with more throughput since the small USG is a bottleneck with FiOS. Guess the DMP has some software limitations since it's new so we'll see.

Hey, Congrats on being an CCNA wireless, what industry are you in? I work for a MSP and we provide alot of networking services, i'd like to get the CCNA wireless one day. I have some older TP-Link EAP Access Points I picked up cheap off Amazon, they work great and since I have a poe switch, I have them wired and mounted in the ceiling.

I was about to say 'ah crap' but saw the "Pro" at the end; the Pro is fine but I've heard there are some issues with the regular one.

Nice camper! Mine is sitting in the driveway waiting for the parks to open up. Are the rv dealers cutting prices the car dealerships?

I do LAN/Wan/WIFI support for a global group that covers everything from medical appliances, airport detection and oil field fluid movement (oil I guess). We're not doing SDWan yet, we're a slave to the vendors and management thinks ATT rocks...
Tell you what, CCNA Wireless test cared hell out of me. I did all sorts of prep work, testing and when I got in doing the test, none of the questions were what I crammed. If it were not for my experience I doubt I would have passed.

I’m so sorry about the lay-off, I’m not even gonna share my sad feelings about that ‘beer’. ;)

(I am bummed about your lay-offs. I hope it’s short term and you stay well and intact.)

Bought a 2007 Rabbit that's in pretty dang good condition (few minor common problems, but paperwork on maintanenace and super clean). My wife and I are able to commute to work, 30 miles away, together, and this is much less expensive to drive every day than the Tundra or the 4runner.

Resolved 2/3 of the minor issues it has. Funny thing is that the person I bought it from bought it from the original owner in March, and they never registered it because an airbag warning and an external lightbulb warning light were on and they couldn't resolve.. Both fixed. Need my "triple square" drivers to work on this monstrosity. Ordered those from Amazon today.

I got lucky - I paid $1700. Buddy of mine bought it and never used it, but built a storage cabinet out of *cherry* underneath it, and put it on those rollers, and a whole crapload of other attachments too.

I just had the rear main seal changed in my 2010 vw tiguan... It blew because the pcv was bad! Anyway, the shop that fixed it recommended the pcv be changed every 30-40k miles.

Had a bunch of extra time off so I've been studying building my own watch (not completely of course, the guts are already assembled). So, I ordered a small beginners tool set, the crystal press, and some other necessary supplies. Then started ordering the piece parts. I'm waiting on one of 3 dials (watch faces is what I called them, until now). I have come to learn that these are not true Seiko watches but are referred to as "Seiko Mod" watches. They have higher quality "movements" which I called guts than what Seiko puts in them from the factory. The person in the video below quoted a sales price of his watch at $950 in an email to me. Seiko does not make the SKX007 style anymore and did not make it like this one at all. A similar Seiko sells for about $325 - $350.

So far I've installed the crystal, bezel, and bezel insert. Once the dial arrives, I'll remove the white day ring, white date ring, and install the black date and day rings, install the dial, install the hands, then install the crown and assemble it. All that will be left is to install the case back and band.

This video is my inspiration to build it:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukMbXg2yaUg

I'll be adding this watch band once the watch is complete.

    This is interesting.
Hey, I propose you copy/ move this into a new thread. Probably others will be interested, and you can learn if others here have done this. I’m not interested in making a watch, but I’d follow along to see what you do!

We have a guy on here that fixes chainsaws. It’s a pretty cool thread, and the rest of us learn a little.
