    Started on the fj today

started with the most important thing changing the oil lol. On the detail side I did the headlights. Big damn difference. I used black fire compound black fire polish with appropriate pads then topped with reload. F980292F-458C-4E30-8C70-44E452FD6BBC.jpg

I’m betting Sonax will work better. Price on the small bottle is close, but from what I see on google, the gallon price for Sonax is is 3-4 times what Brake Buster is. Not sure what that’s about.

Brake Buster is safe for all wheels, and the Sonax only lists alloy and steel. Just gotta be careful.

What's a good pressure washer to use with a foam cannon? Looking to purchase one this week. Thanks in advance.

I'm using a Sun Joe SPX3000 with a Trinova cheapo Amazon cannon and it works great. Definitely feels better with an Amazon pistol grip small wand.

My first SPX3000 had cycling issues. They come with a good warranty and I had a new one on my door in two days and sent the old back free of charge. No complaints since and it's a fine machine.

Upgraded the business with a 6x10 Toro V-nose. Now to figure out how to organize it all and pickup a 100 gal water tank with a generator.

I used both products today and here is what I came up with.

The bottle and and sprayer are both much nicer on the sonax but if you buy 1 gallon jugs this will not matter at all. I do like the color change of the sonax as well but for the cost both products work very well. So I guess it’s a tie based on quality but price would drive the p&s into first place. The fact that brake buster is safe on all wheels gives it another step ahead. I’m going with brake buster but might have to keep a bottle of the sonax around. The wheels I applied to where not real dirty btw well lots of dirt not a lot of brake dust so I will keep an open mind till I hit a set of wheels that are a real mess.

You're gonna love Power Clean. Even though I think you go through more product, I like it in an IK foamer.....same with the Brake Buster. Those Griots PFM 16x16 towels....keep an eye out for sales at your local Pep Boys....they are 4.72 each at my local one

Which CG snow foam? Honeydew? Believe it or not, the Perfoamance soap from MTM actually works better out of a foam cannon.....stuff foams like nobody's business

Power clean was your call. That’s why I got it figured I’d give it a try. I love the griot pfm towels. I’ve bought a bunch of different ones and they are my favorite right now. I posted the question the other day but do you happen to have any experience with a good matte vinyl qd I’m about to do the fj hood and I need one for application and maintenance.

I've not used it....but a friend of mine uses and really likes JAy Leno's matte detailer. Some of the Jay Leno products can be found locally at Autozone and Pep Boys. As a side note, they both sell Jay Lenos vehicle wash which is a very good car soap

Yup honeydew. I'll have to check it out. Got a gallon of the honey dew so I'll be burning through that for at least the next month.

Honeydew is good stuff...I like it the best of all the CG soaps....and there are a lot of them. P&S Pearl Shampoo is good too, but I don't think it foams as well as Honeydew. What pressure washer are you running?

I think I used a wax or something a few months ago. I know little about actual detailing. Got a name of a polish?

There are many. Post a pic of the wear on your paint and we will take a look. Griot makes great compound and polish products. Shine supply all in one is something I just ordered.

The Griots Garage G9 is the best bang for the buck. Great CS and lifetime warranty. Cost is about $150 for the machine but then you'll need pads, towels and compounds/polishes and sealants. Make the job easier but takes some time to do a whole truck. Total all in cost on initial investment would be about $300-400.

gotcha. I would run to pep boys advanced or similar and find some griot correction cream and some polish. You will want a da if you can get your hands on one. After you 2 step it see if it did the trick. Last you will want to wax/seal it. I would get the advice of @briarpatch @War Machine @Pudge if you need to go with a more aggressive approach. These guys know there stuff. There are so many great products out there trying to keep it local for ya. Compound will remove scratches but leave a haze and swirling polish will get rid of haze/swirls wax/sealant will protect the paint. Remember wax doesn’t last that long but the shine is awesome but good sealants will hold up a lot longer. CarPro reload is my go to last 3-6months and easy as hell to apply just don’t do it in the sun. Any questions post em.

From your pic....they look fairly deep. I might also be looking at a buildup of road grime that sometimes happens around the edges of flares. Before you attempt any correction....see if they pass the fingernail test......does your fingernail catch in them? If so, they might be too deep to fully correct.
