Factory Navigation Lockout Override - Secret Menu

Stumbled across this. Thought I'd share. Use with caution, but its excellent for the times when you've got a passenger that can work the nav system if you need to make changes on the fly.

 

I wonder if this will work on the 3rd gen. Will have to try it tomorrow morning.

Nope.
I don't have the "menu" button on the left of the screen that he has. I also don't have anything that will take me to a volume screen.
I wish I could find a way to override this damn safety feature. That's one of my biggest gripes coming from a Honda. My old car and wife's current ride had/have a much more user friendly nav.

 

There is a way but it involves adding a switch and splicing some wires. One of these days I'm gonna suck it up and do it.

yeah, but mine is different, probably because it has the JBL unit.

 

You should have the JBL too with the Platinum package. One in the video is JBL.

You're right, I didn't catch that initially. It must be because it's newer then, because where he has a menu button, mine has a setup button, and it looks totally different when pushed. Since mine doesn't have a volume screen like that, I poked the corner of several other screens to see if I could get the secret one to pop up. No luck.
I wonder if there is another version of this for the newer 2G's.

Sure woulda been nice if techstream could turn it off.

The nav is cool to have but a little cumbersome.
I just grab my iPhone and go to maps, its twice as fast.
