Looking to get any ideas for ceramic coating my 2019 tundra platinum. Recently purchased and want to protect it. I have seen the fortify shine armor product on Amazon but was wanting some more opinions on other products

    Or
    22ple insanity

Take a look at detailedimage or autogeek to purchase. Those are the 2 top consumer applied ceramic coatings.

Use Carpro quartz 3.0. Buy a bottle of reset eraser and reload with it. I love these products I used 3.0 6 weeks ago and still looks amazing. Buy the 50ml pack 30ml won’t get you threw 2 coats.

Yeah. I don’t trust the reviews from Amazon either. Has anyone ever used the Avalon king armor shield ? It’s about the same price and was top pick on a few blogs I read

I applied 3.0 on my truck myself. It’s all about prep. Getting all the steps right is crucial and makes application of the ceramic easy. I was surprised how easy. Still don’t really get the flash timing but after watching many application videos I just set a timer between applying and wiping clear. 2min 30sec. Idk if this was absolutely correct it seemed to really work for me. I applied at 80deg outside truck was in the garage. That’s actually a cool day for us down here.

Stay away. Get carpro for value and amazing results or 22ple if you wanna spend more and get more gloss.

Cquartz 3.0. I get them from Auto geek and they have 25% off coupons really frequently. Also good place to get the reload and towels. Make sure you get extra applicator pads or cloths. They 3.0 50ml kit came with a few and was barely enough to do one coat on my Sequoia.

I saw that video. Doesn't talk about prep work, and he used one of the worst reviewed ones. Yes they work.

Yes, they do work. (Good ones do at least.) I’m not sure they’re worth the price and effort though. I had it put on mine a year or so ago. While the results were very nice, outside of longevity it wasn’t anything I couldn’t accomplish cheaper and easier. Even the longevity depends on maintenance.

I’d recommend a ceramic coating to someone who wants to “set it and forget it”. If you enjoy detailing your vehicle, I’d stick with other products.

Since I am furloughed for the next 75 days or so, I thought is might be a good time to ceramic coat my 2020 tundra. My question is, being that the truck has 2300 miles as is less than 3 months old, how much prep needs to go into the clay, etc.?

    Thanks

wash, ironX, clay, wash, polish, wipe down it eraser or isopropyl alcohol solution then you can ceramic it. Even a new truck needs it all. The polish stage should be light at least

I'd take a look at McKee's 37 also (the old man started Autogeek, sold it, and now started another company). https://www.mckees37.com/

Their Hydro Blue spray is pretty damn good (after washing, spray on while still wet, and rinse it off) - great hydrophobic properties.

I had my paint corrected & CQuartz finest on my last tundra & it held up amazing. I think most people don’t understand that you HAVE to maintain it. I always used CarPro Reset shampoo & Echo2. I have a 2020 TRD pro now & will be getting CQuartz on it again.

    One, I love the MGM.

I just order the CQuartz with the Eraser and Reset for my 2020. Also got Pinnacle Ultra Poly Clay because I have already gone offroading and better safe than sorry I guess. I assume you used Reload as apart of your maintenance, if so, how often?

nice! I never used reload. My detail guy had me just use Echo2 (I think they work similarly?) and I used it as a spray wax and used it while drying my truck.

I got a had mine done by a very reputable ceramic coater/detailer. Everyone pretty much laughed at me for “getting a truck ceramic coated” until they saw the truck in person. Nothing really sticks to the surface, and comes off super easy with the right product. I am a believer and there is honestly no nonsense about it. My truck stays very clean. Much simpler to maintain that clean look.
