I’ve been meaning to take hunter safety class for 2 years now. Need to get it and then go with someone that is willing to take me and teach me what to do.

My recommendation for any magnum rifle is a one-piece Base and rings made out of Steel from a reputable company like Badger Ordnance, u.s. Optics, or seekins. Be sure to use a torque wrench that measures inch pounds and threadlocker when you mount them both.

Sweet setup. How are you liking it? I finally caved and bought a Hells Canyon 6.5 CM to replace my old 1960’s Remington 721 30-06. Wanted something I was more comfortable with taking shots (and potentially a follow up shot) out past 300 yds. So far paired with the Leupold Vx3 4.5-14 x 50 it is an amazing weapon. Followed Speedy Gonzales break in procedure as I do on all my rifles. 1/1 with it so far. Thinking about getting my scope cerakoted to match the barrel / scope mounts. Still undecided.

Nice rifle I have the same scope on my 6.5 and love it. Be careful with getting your scope cerakoted, it needs to be baked on, and that much heat will ruin things inside your scope. I know there is a new no-bake cerakote finish so that may be worth looking into, but for the cost you might be better off selling your scope and calling the Leupold custom shop to make you one. They will coat the parts before assembly and they can do whatever you want.
