I haven't seen a centralized list of lifts with costs and reviews posted up. I am looking at all of the options on the different suspension upgrades on the Tundras and came up with a list of setups and pricing on all of them within a certain range. They are all set to include coilovers and rear shocks. I reduced the Toytec pricing by $45 to compensate for having to get outside set of shackles. Pricing comes from Toytec, Auto Anything, and SDHQ. I have grouped them into three groups. First group is the basic coils and basic rear shocks. Second group has rear reservoir shocks. Third group has reservoir all around. Pricing looks pretty comparable through all of them. I know Toytec's downside is they are not rebuild able, along with the Bilstein's. Looking for feedback on differences and recommendations from those who know a lot about suspension on the differences. Is it worth the extra 1k for the all around reservoir's? Are you better off on just spending an extra couple hundred on rear reservoir and regular fronts? Hopefully this will also help others out there hunting for suspension.

    Fox 2.0 Set $ 1,120
    Toytec BOSS $ 1,205
    Icon Stage 1 $ 1,619.85

    Bilstein 6112 $873.32
    Fox 2.0/2.0resi $1,310
Toytec BOSS Resi Rears $ 1,445
    Fox 2.5/2.0resi $ 1,745
    Icon Front/Rear Resi $1,856

    Fox 2.5resi/2.0 resi $ 2,045
    Icon Front Resi/Rear Resi $2,156
    King 2.5 resi setup $ 2,335

Weird. I purchased my Bilstein 6112 for 599.00 shipped, and just seen them on sale for 549.32.

The comparable Bilstein 5160 rear shocks are 162.00 each. That is 873.32 if my math is correct.....carry the one....yep, it is correct.

If you are 80% street and 20% offroad, the extra cost of the reservoirs might not benefit you at all except the cool looking factor.

Thanks I adjusted and moved - I forgot that the rears on the 5160's are resi's too. Good to know on the 80/20 thought as well.

After more research I think I will probably go with the 6112/5160's. This thread can get deleted.

20% off-road is 73 days. There are ~104 weekend days per year. That means your off-roading 36.5 weekends per year. That is a lot of days off-roading.

Yeah 73 days a year is quite unrealistic. 36 or ~10% is probably more realistic considering I know I will spend a week at our cabin over the 4th of July.

It is easy to get lost in the choices with the information on this without really figuring your best match. I was almost set on the Boss, but in reading more into it, the 6112/5160 seems like a superior setup for a smaller price. I would still probably get the Toytec shackle, TC UCA, etc.. though.

    Thanks for the help.

Well you have other means to get off-road.

I get about 2-3 camping/wheeling trips in per year.

Interested. For the reservoir's, wouldn't it also depend how long your off road session is and how hard your driving for that day?

Yes. Before you get some shock fade, your going to cycle the shocks a lot. Some of the videos I've seen on here from Jason Berry, it is a good thing he has bypasses and RR shocks on his old Tacoma.

geno0506, this is what was told to me by the great techs@ Toytec, Wheeler's Off-road, and a few other choice company's. Pertaining to the boss kit, toytec ultimate lift, and 6112's. If your going off-road more than normal, then boss is the preferred set up. Next would be the ultimate lift. If your a street crawler like me then the 6112's with the 5100's in the rear, 5160's if your going off-road. I was told for best ride quality the 6112's are the way to go. That's where I'm headed as soon as I find that money tree. I'm not responsible for any out of control comments, as I'm just relaying what was told to me. Don't kill the messenger. Hope this helps.

This is interesting since the 6112's are a bigger body shock. As far as I know more oil = better ability to sustain rough terrain over a short period of time. The only thing I could think of is maybe they are tuned differently. I don't think the Boss or Ultimate has more travel and the spring size is the same (unless you opt for the 700). I'm just starting to learn more about this through reading these forums. I feel like I learned a ton from @ColoradoTJ past posts on his setup with Jason's input on those.

$1160 is quite a bit more than $874, almost $300. I have a good friend that is a tech at a local Toyota dealer nearby and he has everything I would need to assemble. We used it to change the springs on the struts on my corolla. I cant imagine that it wouldn't work in this application. $300 gives me the ability to step up to TC UCA's and possibly Coachbuilder shackles.

Also, at $572 less than the Boss Kit with rear resi shocks, that's for sure enough more TC UCA's and Coachbuilder shackles.

    Thats $1160.00 for 2 6112's assembled and 2 5160 rear shocks! So that's all 4!

I believe the TC UCA's are about $750.00 and the shackles are about $250.00!

$873.32 is for all 4, unassembled. The fronts from streetsideauto.com for $549.32 w/ no tax and free shipping and the rears from summit racing for $331.94 for both no tax free shipping.

I meant the step up from SPC UCAs to TC UCAs. I was totally unclear in my prior posts.

I am not in the market yet, and am not sure that those prices are possible to meet, but I would rather give my business to those vendors who participate here. Just not at that cost.

Do you think if I bought them assembled, would it be hard by myself to do a DIY installation of all 4, in my driveway. I have a 3 ton jack and larger stands! Just curious because I cant find any places here in San Antonio that will install unless I buy from them!

    Thanks
