Tried the coconut oil last week and one of the dogs had an allergic reaction. Funny how two pups from the same litter can be so different.

Anyway, while at the Vet they mentioned that dogs don't metabolize coconut (and other seed) oils very well. They suggested we switch to a marine based option like fish oil. I'm sure your's is handling it fine or you wouldn't have recommended it...just an FYI for anyone else that may be considering adding oil to their dog's diet.

Maybe will give that a shot once he's gotten over his coconut affliction.

Sooo my setup might be extreme for most....

But basically i took out the rear seats. and i have two rolling boxes for gear one on each side...

you can see them in the pic..

then i built a little table that goes level with the boxes.

then i have the biggest bed these guys make in XXL that fits perfect from side to side and covers the whole area...
    https://k9ballistics.com/index.php/xxl-dog-beds/bolster-nesting-tuff-bed.html

now she has an awesome platform to lay on.

On the floor just get a good well stuffed nest bed, like Orvis. Throw it on the floor and it will fill in the hills and valleys. I run a sling and have for hundreds of thousands of miles. Two labs New Orleans to Colorado in the last few days. I highly suggest a quality sling.

Picked up my Tundra this past Saturday and the first thing I did was pickup my pup and take her on a ride. I went with the seat folded up as well and was thinking about making something so the ground is level for her. This is one of the reasons I love the forums, I had a feeling someone else had thought of this. I am going to mock something up and see if I can't put something together. I will say, the first thing she did was jump in the front seat though.... o_O

I put in a full hammock with a custom dog bed in the bottom. The hammock help to keep the dog hair controlled.

I made this for our pit. Her bed sits on it and still allows my daughter to have a decent amount of room on long trips.

I want to do something similar with my new crewmax. I have an older dog who needs to lay on the floor to be safe and comfortable.
What kind of hammock is that and does it touch the floor with the seats flipped up?
I also have a new baby on the way so I need to figure out a way to only do this for the big seat and leave the other seat down and free for a car seat.

Give them time they will find their balance. I bought moving blankets, a eyelet punch, and some heavy duty bungee cord. It cost my less than $40.00 and gives me full coverage. I made door covers (not shown in the picture.) I will throw his bed in the back for longer trips. He loves it and it absolutely contains the dog hair. I used the head rests and floor seat mounts to secure the blankets. I throw in a extra blanket on the floor loose as he likes to sleep with a pillow

I pulled the trigger on this cover from Amazon and so far I like it.

Tapiona XL Dog Seat Cover - Truck & SUV Extra Coverage Back Seat Cover - 63Wx94L - Large Pets Hammock - Heavy Duty, Waterproof, Nonslip, No Odor, Seat Anchors, Washable https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06W597YC7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_jbWiEbTR100HX

I was looking for one that hit the floor and worked with the seats folded up. My old boy Bruno just turned 13 so my main concern is getting him in and out (I have a ramp that gets him to floor level pretty easily) and keeping him stable and comfortable on the floor. Sadly I think his riding on the seats days are behind him.
Here’s some pictures of the cover using a few different seat configurations. The straps can be tightened but this was just an initial fitting.
Also I plan to add another strap or something to fold the side up better when I have the baby seat in the small seat behind passenger side.

PS the extra large cover has been nice so far and pretty cheap on Amazon, I highly recommend it for anyone looking to keep the dogs on the floor of the crewmax and not the seats.

Can you give us an update on your back seat dog cover? I’m curious what you like and don’t like so far?

There is an Amazon link to the cover above in my original post.

Yes I am still liking the cover and no real complaints so far. Full disclosure though, my dog is 13 and he really only rides in the truck occasionally. Also from my earlier pictures I still put one of this old beds down on top of the cover for padding and he spends most of the time lying down. So i can’t give you much of an honest review on the durability of the cover because we just haven’t used it that much and he’s certainly not jumping around in the backseat scratching it all up like he might have 5 years ago.
Too bad I didn’t buy a Tundra years ago!
I still think the cover seems well made and durable but if your dogs are more active and in the truck all the time you’ll have to tell me how it holds up. For the price it’s worth a try in my opinion. Especially since options are limited if you want a cover that hits the floor with the seats folded up. If you want a hammock style to use with the seats down, maybe buy something else.

I cut a window in the cover so my dogs can get AC in the summer. Definitely helps cooling it off back there.

I marked where I wanted the hole to be while it was installed and cut the hole. I folded over the cut edge and stitched around it to give it a finished look.

I took out the love seat, kept the jump seat. I built a platform and used ammo crates as storage. A cooler fits on the other side. I’ve used it for 3 years now. Great idea silverhack. I'm looking for my first Tundra (used) and dogs/animal comfort and travel key to selecting year/model. Any idea if there is there similar space in back for your board idea in a double cab or crew max? Trying to figure out differences between the two.
