I am getting ready to have the TT Boss 3/1 lift installed next week on my 14CM and am actually thinking about keep my stock Platinum rims and possibly bumping up the tire size to 285/65/20's or whatever I can fit without trimming.

Any Platinum owners running a 3" lift with larger tires on the Platinum stock rims?

    Thanks!

I am thinking not many Platinum owners upgrade to larger tires on 20" stock the OEM stock rims pictured above.

no, I haven't seen too many, if any. Typically, people try to get the wheels / tires out away from the UCA, especially when lifting. The stock wheels being a +60 offset are sunk into the wheel well pretty good

Yeah, the ones that do keep the oem wheels usually throw the 1.25" spacers on there I believe. Which puts it roughly around a +30 offset. In that neighborhood at least.

I don't have the platinum wheels but I do have the JTI 20's from the xsp package. I believe they're similar offsets if not the same. I have 285/65/20 nitto terra grappler G2's no spacers, no rubbing at all. Didn't have to do any trimming. Not a whole lot of room between the tire and the UCA, maybe 1/2". I've driven on the beach and some trails, nothing serious, but there was flexing and no contact with the UCA's. I can get you some pics tomorrow

One of the package wheels are +50 instead of +60 like the platinum wheels. I think either the xsp or tss wheels.

    i've always wondered this myself.
i leveled mine with 6112's on the 3rd setting and threw on some 285/55's on the stock platinum 20's and find them just a hair smaller than i'd like.

Gotcha. There's not much info out there on the JTI's. In that case, 10mm closer to the UCA would be a little too close IMO

A little rubbing only mod was taking the small mud flap out and bending back skidplate. Purchased the body mount chop but didn't need it. The rub is at full chock and only on the molding that covers the foglight no big deal to me at least. I'll post pics shortly

IMG_0121.jpg IMG_0122.jpg IMG_0123.jpg The only 2 areas it rubs, no damage just wore the molding down a little bit. Only off roading I do is on the beach and small trails, hope that helps IMG_0121.jpgIMG_0122.jpg

Maybe I'm wrong but if you're running 285/55 on those wheels then 285/65 won't be any wider and no closer to your UCA. Overall diameter will be larger but if you're lifted 3" that shouldn't be too much of an issue

Thanks Rancid13...I just got back from a trip to my local Discount Tire shop and the rep the says 295/65/20 Michelin Defender MS2's will fit post Boss 3" lift install... I am skeptical and don't think so...it's a 35" tire. We'll see next week.

    image.jpg

It says here 285/65/20 will fit, so maybe a 295 will fit no trimming?

I almost went that route but, ironically enough, the guy at my local discount tire talked me out of it. He didn't say it wouldn't fit but strongly suggested it. I didn't feel like chopping the body mount or getting new UCA's at the time (still don't) so I didn't take the chance. Hopefully for you they fit! Post pics!

Had my TT Boss lift installed yesterday and am very happy with the results and ride. The install took 4 hrs. Left the lift shop and had Michelin 285/60/20 installed on my stock Platinum wheels placing my old 275/55/20's. Just decided I was happy with 285/60's and not to roll with the 295/65's. I don't off road at all so this tire and size just makes total sense for my needs. So essentially I bumped up from a 275/55/20 to a 285/60/20. Approx 1.5" in tire height and a little wider. I had the tech trim the front skid plate and mod the front fender well so I have no rubbing issues at all. He did a really neat and clean job even painted the skid plate where he made the cuts. The labor cost of the TT Boss install was $295.00 which included a hunter 4 wheel alignment.
Discount tire prorated the mileage left on my old Michelin's @$315.00 which I thought was very cool with. Essentially deducting this amount from my new set.

I like the stock Platinum "purist look" and think I achieved keeping it that way for now. Here are a few pics of before and after. Thanks to the members on this forum for their thoughts and help with questions I know they have heard hundreds of times.
