Hello everyone. New to the forum. Very happy to be here. I Bought a 2019 crewmax Ltd. I did a few modifications recently. My next project will be swapping all the chrome from the front of the truck. I like the TRD Pro grill. I would also like to get bigger tire with either a leveling kits or full suspensions. Here’s my question. I have the TSS. I like it. It works very well, especially on the freeway. Since the Trd pro grill TSS is lowered would that be a problem because the one I have is in the middle. Also when I raise the truck would it be possible to move the TSS. As in pointing it down so it will work accurately. Thanks in advance. E106960F-3A5B-4EE5-B95A-E76177D48B60.jpg

you’ll need a relocation bracket which AJT makes one for $34. Very easy to install I actually just did it a few weeks ago.

There are several options you can go with the 2018+ TRD Pro grille which will accommodate the TSS sensor or if you go with the 2014-2017 TRD Pro grille you’ll need the relocation bracket. Like @JAcrispy512 said AJT designs makes one and Jomax Customs makes one too.
Many folks with TSS on here went with the 2014-2017 TRD Pro grille and and have experience with either bracket (I went with the Jomax bracket - it’s more expensive but very well built and I’ve had no issues with it in the past 6 months).

check these threads for your grille options:

If you’re doing the 2019 trd pro grill, you do not need any relocation bracket. I installed the trd pro grill on mine and had no issues, but after taking apart the bumper again, my TSS is malfunctioning and it’s a mess because I actually like the TSS system. Buy an oem grill with surround and bulge from cool springs Toyota, code SHIPFREE I believe, that’s your best price and code ends tomorrow. I would go with an aftermarket garnish, unless you want to fork over the ridiculous amount of money for the oem. Here’s a pic of mine right after I replaced the grill to the 19+ trd pro version

I believe the sensor "re-learns" it's new location when it is slightly lower.

Thank you. Btw did you do anything to your suspension? I do want to leveling out my truck later. Just wondering if that would ruin the TSS.

after reading many many threads regarding TSS. Majority says lifting 3”+ will cause issues unless you relocate the sensor which wouldn’t work on 19+ grills. Some threads say leveling causing issues as well as the angle of the sensor is off and would need to be recalibrated. My suspension is completely stock and after dealing with this tss malfunction I don’t want to touch my suspension or lift. From what I can tell, it’s a coin flip whether or not the TSS will behave.

You’re welcome. The newer style is compatible with TSS BUT you either need to shell out ridiculous money for the OEM TSS garnish or a cheaper aftermarket version that some report limited success with. Good luck.

Have you had any problems with the 2019 grill since the malfunction?

I recently installed the 2019 pro grille and haven’t had any issues except it randomly said BRAKE once when I had it on cruise control. I also recently had Bilstein 5100s installed front and rear. The front is set on mid setting (~1.6” lift) and looks leveled.

Currently still dealing with the malfunction (PCS OFF), I saw a couple supposedly fixes so I will try them tomorrow when I get a chance to work on the truck. Other than the TSS malfunction, zero issues. I’m a big fan of the TSS so I would rather have it work.

it’s so strange to have these issues, especially since it’s a grill designed to have the TSS system. My PCS activated the other day when I had it set to cruise control but only did it once. Hoping it was just a fluke. I have the OEM garnish too, so not sure how issues could arise. Worst case, if you had to take it to the dealer, they should fix it since it’s an OEM part?

dealers a no go. They wanted me to pay $190 for diagnostic and another $990 for recalibration. I switched to the TRD PRO grill myself so they are using that as an excuse to blame me. This is my first Toyota and the service center suckssssssss. I hope these fixes I read will solve the issue.....

Wow!! That’s crazy, but typical dealership trying to get out of checking things. I wonder since the sensor bracket sits lower on the pro grill due to the Pros having that 2” lift in front, it may malfunction on a non-pro truck that isn’t lifted/leveled? I got my truck leveled a few weeks before installing my pro grille.

If you switch out your Limited grille and have the TSS you will need to pay for the new emblem.
I learned the had way. Found out after everything was delivered and taken apart ready to install. The vendor on here stated all I would need to do is swap grilles.
Not happy with this dudes lack of honesty. I do have this in writing.
I ended up getting an emblem off e-bay that works with no issues.

When your talking about a new emblem. Are you talking about the grill cover. That little black piece that cost 300 oem?

You swapped for a TRD Pro grill?
That is the subject of the OP.
They don't have an 'emblem' other than the TOYOTA letters.

OP’s subject was misleading, he doesn’t want to swap to a trd pro grill but the platinum/sport honeycomb grill

I didn't read anything about a Platinum grill.
2019 Pros have the honeycomb grille and there is is no emblem that you are referring to..

ahhh on second thought I think I got confused cause he was mentioning emblems etc. I think he means the grill garnish not an “emblem”. The platinum honeycomb style has the “emblem” as a sensor cover. The incorrect terms got me confused haha

Yea sorry for the confusion. I was talking about the garnish for Trd pro grill. Color matched mirror cover and door handles came in today. Trd Rear sway bar will be here tomorrow. Will update a pic when I’m done.

I've been running the 2019 TRD Pro grill in my 2019 Limited DC for 5 months now no issues. My only recommendation is do not buy the ebay after market sensor cover it will cause occasional issues. It was worth it to try it but I ended up shelling out the money for the OEM.
