Wasn't on the truck when I bought it 3 years ago. Still isn't. Like @FrenchToasty said there's not really much unprotected under there.

That's kind of what I figured. I'll probably just leave it off for the time being. :)

@empty_lord while you have the dash out again...
Does it look like a simple swap some parts (steering column cover, piece of duct) job to add a balls cooler?
My 2003 has it, but looking at a 2005 - the vent is missing.
    (pics?)
    Thanks!

Cool. Though, this may get expensive - if I could even register a new truck at this point.
    Thanks.

Anyone have a quick answer - 1st gen 4door is both wider & longer than same access cab? (both 6' bed).

Correct. The DC beds are also deeper.

    Brilliant!
I forgot that. Every time I use the bed as a bed I whine it's too shallow.
So far, only reasons to buy this 2005.... :spending:

I bought a latrax prerunner and immediately broke almost every front end part. I'm working with them to get a refund, but in the meantime I ordered a 9125, it goes by many brands, but I'm pretty excited. https://www.amazon.com/FMT-Control-Controlled-Off-Road-Assorted/dp/B07MV54BXL/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1BU9WUIAXLH2S&dchild=1&keywords=9125+rc&qid=1588027421&sprefix=toyota+rear+u+bolts%2Caps%2C199&sr=8-1

My understanding is the ball/cooch vent went away at some point. There in 2003, not there in 2005.

just saying... Honda has some great sideview mirrors with built in cameras. First saw them on a Fitt. Displays in the center stack.
I look forward to hearing how you mounted a camera on each side mirror & get them to feed into your radio. :yes:Aux in channel?

Well then am I just missing it? Anyone see it in this picture? 2005 double cab SR5. Maybe a trim level thing?

Even if you have it, you wouldn't be able to see it in that picture. It is down really low on the panel, directly in line with the steering wheel but low. Think "shin vent" versus "ball vent"

According to the 2005 FSM, a lower vent is installed in Standards, AC and DC.

Pic of Standard/AC location of lower vent....

Sounds like it doesn't matter in this case. FSM says any 1st gen crew cab will have it, so I won't be needing to do that mod.
It would be interesting to see, but the question's been answered. thanks.

I found a 2000 Limited with a TRD charger on it. It has higher miles but I am wondering how 'cost effective' it would be to buy it, swap into onto my truck and then sell the other. A friend of mine who wrenches on my most of my stuff estimated $1000 to do the swap for labor. I have to say, I am very tempted.

    How much is the truck?

My 03 has a charger on it with 292k and still going. I wouldn't worry about the miles. Maybe rebuild the charger prior to installation and clean the fuel injector. I would recommend a good drive with it to make sure it's running correctly before swapping but overall I think if the cost of the truck isn't too bad then jump on it. Pull any other items that you may need to update/fix on yours then get rid of it.

I think I can get the whole truck between $5500-$6000. The truck is extremely clean and has 281K on it. I ran the vin and it has decent service history. I had him send pics of the frame which is clean. I am EXTREMELY tempted at this point...

I know you've done a lot with your truck and it's looking super nice BUT if this truck is equally as clean and/or cleaner, would it make more sense to swap over your items to this truck since you can do it yourself and save $1000? (assuming it's 4x4). Then you could sell your truck (for probably more due to the lower mileage).

    Just a thought.
