How do they stay secured to the bed?

 

I have bed rails on the truck and then bought two RockyMounts for each bike. The forks attach to the mount and lock down with a key.

I bought the deck rail for $160 and came with tie downs as well

 

Geezus. Ill just throw the bike in the bed & tie it down

 

The good thing about Argueta set up is that it locks so you don't have to worry about your bike getting stolen. I would rather pay a little more than have my $3k bike get stolen.

 

Yes, if you have some expensive bikes then it's worth the investment.

 

How did u secure yours?

 

I ride all over. Some of the local riding spots I hit are Woods, Oaks, Laguna, Chino, The Loop, Whiting Ranch, Crystal Cove, O'Neil, and a lot more! Can't remember them all.

What about yourself?

 

I secure my bike with Velcro. I have a tailgate mat/pad that cost me about $70 which has straps for 5 bikes. It holds them down really good. Never had an issue.

 

Just thought I would share my recent trip last week to Big Bear. Did the Snow Summit MTB park. Prettt crazy! Can't wait to do it again!

 

My last ride today as a California resident. Moving on to Nevada. Hopefully there are some good MTB areas out there.

What part of Nevada are you moving to? Im in Reno, and there are miles of trails. A 35-45 min drive to tahoe and there are even more.

 

I'll be in Las Vegas starting tomorrow.

It's been a couple months for me.

 

Same, last I went was probably last September. I've been wanting to go, just lazy to load up and actually go. Finally got past my laziness and went yesterday, it was a good day to ride.

 

Anyone have a recommendation for a bike for 50% pavement and 50% trails/mountains? I am thinking a hardtail would be fine, but would like to hear your opinions. Been looking at Santa Cruz, Yeti and Specialized.

 

You are looking for a cross country bike. There's plenty of good ones out there. It's just what you are willing to spend.
