Hey guys, I noticed about a week ago, I had a whine noise coming from the engine bay (from what I can hear inside the truck). I had read it could be a bad PCV valve and my truck has 50k miles so I changed it. I haven't heard it for a while but it came back last night. It's not constant, it doesn't happen on start up, and only intermittently happens when I give it some throttle in the lower ranges. Here is a video, though it's hard to hear... any ideas?

I thought I heard some guys say that mesh screen gasket inside throttle body spacer causes that??? Remove throttle body ther a gasket that has a metal screen some say it causes that noise and dealer sells gasket without metal screen

Just odd that if that was the case it would just start doing it now... does the metal screen get shit on it or?

Another really common issue for "whining" is a bad pulley. If the bearing starts to dry out the metal on metal can cause some "wheeeeeee" sounds.

This can be easily tested by going to Autozone and "buying" (and returning immediately) a mechanics stethoscope.

Would it make sense for this to be a tensioner pulley?

I hear it in the video. Not sure but doesn't really sound like a pulley. Did you recently change to a high flow filter or new CAI?

No I haven't changed anything, I didn't think it sounded like a pulley either and I changed the PCV already. Happens really intermittently but it pisses me off.

I'll look at the air filter thing, but the thing that makes me think it isn't that is that it's not in sync with the engine revving... idk
