    G’day everybody.

Now I’ve spent hours and hours search various Tundra forums for answers. And I have some, but I just cant put all the info together without some help.

    Bit of a back story, I’ve got a standard Black 2015 1794Edition CM (4x4)
Had a bit of drama out on the trails the other weekend and punched a hole in the side wall in one of the stock 275/55-R20 Duller tires (on stock wheels) I also bent both the side steps too. I dropped down onto a bit of a shelf that I misjudged and then did almost the same thing when I had to reverse back up the trail. Shit happens.

I’ve ordered (and should have them on by this weekend) some KO2’s in 275/60 R20. That’ll cover me for a bit while I save up the cash for a decent upgrade.

So what I’ve realised, these trucks are certainly capable off-road, even in their most standard format. But it’s in need of a lift and some 35’s for me to be happier with its performance in the dirt.

I began the search of a lift and a suitable set of shoes for the beasty. Wheels are a personal preference and I’ve always liked the Method NV’s http://www.methodracewheels.com/collections/street-wheels/products/nv-black

We’ll come back to the wheels a little later if we want.

The lift. Well…. Is this a mine field if I’ve ever seen one.

    6112/5160 Bilstein Suspension only lifts.

8in ReadyLift with Bilstein Shocks which allows you to retain stock wheels (why would you?)

BDS 7in lift with FOX shocks

ProComp 7in lift that uses stock shocks (new rears)

    Where do I start?

6-7in lift would be ideal. Pricing looks anything from 2k to 4k, not including wheels and tires. The lift has to have some decent travel.

Personally I do not see myself needing or wanting 37’s, they do look awesome but I spend far more time rolling around the city (Washington DC/NOVA) and on the highway getting to camping/trail/properties that I just don’t see it being worth it. So I’ve decided to go with something in the 35in size. Plenty of side wall for when I air down if I run 18’s.

I guess what I’m asking is, HELP!

There is so much info it’s overwhelming. Some posts are 3+years old so I’m not if the info is still current.

I don’t mind spending the $$$ on something good quality with a good reputation. I would love to hear from anybody that has had one or both (or all three?) of the lift brands. UCA are another headache waiting to happen, plus carrier bearing drops and so so much more.

The kit has to be off-road friendly, highway friendly (within reason). I’m not in it just for looks.

One reason I’ve waited so long to lift the truck to start with is that I’ve had free parking at work and the truck (at stock height) clears into the garage with about an inch Free parking is about to end so I may as well lift the beasty and get the most out of it while I can and bus/train/convince the missus/buy a motorbike/walk so I can get the most out of my truck.

Appreciate your thoughts, photos and anything you’ve got to add

The Toytec/Radflo 2.5 front coil over and boss 2.0 rear shock with resi's look awesome though.

Like @csuviper said, you can fit 35's on a 3/1 and I just got my BOSS kit, but have to install it before I can give a solid review. If the guys on here are any indication, you wouldnt be disappointed.

Other good off-road and highway friendly shocks are kings, Fox, Icon, and OME (Old man emu)
Definitely get UCA's (uniball seems to be the strongest but could also get SPC which is maintenance free) and shackles (for the rear) or icon leaf packs.

Shocks with resi's would be kick ass for off-road but depending on how much you do so, might not be worth it. Entirely up to you brother!!

Yeah, stick with 3" if you're offroading. Here's a pic of Toytec Boss 3/1.5, on Method NV's and some sliders.

Most on here like the Toytec Boss, which is what I'm going to be putting on my truck. But the dealership around here sells some of their trucks with the 7" BDS with Fox shocks and it looks really good. I know two of the guys that bought those trucks and haven't had many issues with the lift outside of some squeaks.
