X2. You will not regret the PRO at all. I was concerned about MPGs at first but once you get a tundra you won't even think twice. You've gotta pay to play with the big boys :burnrubber:

yep me too, traded my 2017 taco for a 17 tundra and i couldn't be happier. Taco had tranny issues among other things and the tundra is so much more comfortable to ride in. I live in a rural area but work in the city so my driving is 50/50 hwy and city and i average 16mpg. only had it on a road trip once so far and it had about 500 miles on the clock i hit 17mpg. with a 38 gallon tank i am super happy and I don't regret my decision at all.

If you have a need for a bigger truck, it comes at a price. Everyone bought their Tundras for a reason, whatever it is, knowing it was far from fuel efficient. Your only option of getting a big truck with room and power, AND getting decent fuel economy is going @ColoradoTJ's and @bandit's route and getting a ¾ or 1 ton diesel truck.

The Tundra is a great truck! Big, powerful, RELIABLE, and looks great, but it all comes at the expense of fuel efficiency.

You can get a GM truck with a 3.08 rear end that gets better fuel economy, but at the expense of a smaller rear end meant for maximum fuel economy. You can get a Ford, but at the expense of....well, its a Ford. The closest ½ truck comparable to the Tundra is a Ram. A lot of people will argue that Rams are junk (I don't have any experience with them), but they are about as close as you get. I test drove one, but ultimately, I thought the Tundra was more comfortable and looked better. Since that Ram test drive in 2015, I've bought 2 Tundras and will never consider another ½ ton truck.

    Without knowing any specifics of his taco I don't really have much to say here...What I can share is this;

If he's coming from a long travel tacoma and wants a larger long travel vehicle. The tundra is worst platform you could start with for this. If money is no object then go for it.

If he wants the ability to tow a decent, respectable sized trailer, be hit with incredibly horrible fuel mileage and less then average towing capabilities I'd say he won't be happy with a tundra.

If he doesn't care about towing and just wants to do a dog and pony lift on it and be halfway capable of a tacoma then he may be happy with a tundra.

If he wants fuel mileage, plus a larger vehicle I'd go shop around for 2500's.

The tundra is a capable truck to an extent, a stock tacoma will go more places than tundra will 100% of the time. As such, a stock chevy 4x4 1500 will go further than a tundra will also.

I'd say the OP should give us better parameters of all things to be considered if he'd like accurate non opinionated facts. There are plenty of us on here that have ample time invested into multiple platforms of other makes and models to help him along and get him into something he'd be happy with.

Tundra should fit the bill nicely for the OP. Only thing I would add is this:

-Towing and load capacities, know your limits and future plans. I really messed up on this and had to sell one of my favorite trucks.
-If you plan on leveling or small lift, a Pro might be a great option.
-My Tacoma gets pretty good fuel economy, and my Tundra couldn't touch that except on the highway. In town, 14-15 on a good tank. Highway was over 17 mpg consistently. My Taco gets 18 in town.

You could talk to few dealers in Texas and Arizona. Some will go above and beyond to make a sale. My brother was in the market for Dodge 3500 dually and one dealer picked him up from airport, paid for hotel and got his the truck $14k under lowest price my brother found in his home state.
Just call around and get it in writing if you willing to travel.

I purchased a 17 tundra limited but special ordered it without a sunroof, jbl, or running boards. It did have navi, bsm, parking sensors though and the msrp was 43. You can easily get it under 40

2017 limited with premium package. Sunroof, trd, jbl, bsm, park assist sensors. Msrp $49k. Played 3 dealers against each other. Got it for $43,400 before tax and fees. That included $1k Toyota rebate Then I immediately started modding her d9b7cfb4869fda61f264341b717189f3_0db70ebe38ca7f227bfa9f2e177319188df8421e.jpg85143fb53434cefaa3fc326a2312a6a7_9fe7dd7866e878d746081c3c8fed584a51098109.jpg

If someone already posted this sorry for the redundancy. Here's a link to the 2017 Tundra Brochure. In the back you can see what each package entails.

As for price I got my 2016 1794 for $46,200 in Nov not including tax, license, etc. There was a $2,000 discount going on then.

I found my 14 CM Limited 4x4 last week for 34K with 42K miles. The difference in the SR-5 Vs Limited is mind blowing. I also looked hard and new Tacoma Offroad w/JBL package. Tundra Limited will most def satisfy your upper package taco needs.

I'm sure you guys all know the Limited only lacks Bilsteins and skid plate vs TRD.

Also the mileage average read 13.4 when i first got in it. I've average 15.5 over the past week mix highway/city drive.

If leather is a major driver katskinz are better quality than factory leather and you can get heat/cool seats. IMO don't let that sway your purchase decision too much.
