    Here’s the parts I ordered.

Drain & remove the stock filter housing, using this

    Old pleated filter.

New & Old housings. You need to remove the inner stem tube, spring and spring cup from old housing. I used a forked molding tool, you can use a flat blade screw driver too.
The stem tube can easily be bent to remove. Be careful not to bend to much. Slight pressure should pop it out of its seat in old housing.

The quarter size spring Perch is not used in the new billet housing. The new housing has a grove that the spring sets in. Put the spring & stem tube together and insert into new billet housing, use flat blade screw driver to help it seat in the housing

Check fitment of stem tub, check diameter of stem tube top, mine was a little slippery and I dropped it on the floor which bent it slightly, but I fixed it.
Test fit new filter element.A1292476-4BE9-44B1-9F0C-E54B8FF567A3.jpgInstall new ORing on filter housing, below the threads where it will screw back into the engine housing on engine.

Smaller ORing will not be used. It’s for the old filter housing.DF98BBDA-891C-4CA1-B191-7AB2CC929250.jpg
Fomoto drain valve came installed, but check it to make sure it’s seated, and in off position. The Fomoto valve has a nipple & cap in the kit. Both screw on the end of the valve. I used the cap for my install and will remove cap and place screw in nipple and rubber tube ( not pictured) to drain out oil from filter next oil change.

I used some painters blue tape on the hex head where the socket will be used. (OCD kicked in so I wouldn’t scratch the housing). Time to put the new billet housing on the truck for the first time.

Using the 2 1/2” socket and extension, ones a good time to recheck things just to be sure you assembled it right.

Put small amount of oil on O Ring & screw it into engine block housing. Hand tighten till it stops turning. Use torque wrench to torque down to 18.0 ft pounds. B5D6ED00-74A3-4D1F-BF5B-35F605E4474B.jpg29D0E67B-4776-4576-8DAE-4E2594B57B72.jpg
With Fomoto cap in place, recheck end cap. Hand tight, then used the “Vulken” death grip to verify it’s not going to fall off. No need to use plyers on it. It’s got an O Ring to help set it.
I had already drained the engine oil & replaced the oil pan drain plug. Refill with 8 quarts 0-20 synthetic motor oil. Start truck motor and verify oil pressure on dash and look under truck to check your work.
    Wa-la your done.

    Not nearly enough room here!
I replaced mine with Jowett's kit a couple years ago. No leaks, fires or engine seize, so I'm calling it successful!:D

I was interested in purchasing the same setup. I sent him an email on 4/6/20 since that is the only contact method listed on the website. I have yet to receive any response from him.

Has anyone had this installed on a truck with a TRD or RCI skid plate with the oil filter removal door? Does it fit through the little door just fine?

I’ve now had both, but at separate times on my trucks history, weird how that worked out.
I’m pretty sure that the Jowett filter housing will fit through the RCI or TRD skid plates I’d bet the opening is 3.0 to 4.0 inches wide
    I can tell you this it’s 2 1/2 inch socket to install/remove.
I can call tomorrow to verify with RCI and I can measure jowetts housing. How about that.

Thanks! No need to call. The Jowett website was down last time I tried to look to see the size. I’m going to order a RCI skid plate but it will be next year before I do it. I just got this truck 2 months ago and I have 4 free oil changes from the dealership. Once those are used up then I’ll put the skid plate and the new cover on.

    For all skid plate owners;
I’ve talked to RCI today about the inspection opening for oil filter.
It’s 4 3/8W X 5 3/8L plenty of room for Jowett performance billet oil filter housing to move through that opening.
As far as TRD skid plate opening,
Can someone who owns one post the inspection plate hole size.
I’m betting is very similar in size.
    Thanks in advance. :hattip:

To the OP, thanks for sharing this info. Nicely detailed.

In the small plastic bag, taped to the cardboard, in the 1st post, there are three items.
One is the DC-001 cap. The other is a H-001 Straight Hose End for 3/8" tubing.

    What is the third piece?

Does it have an identifying part number printed on it?

Yes, I have this exact setup with the RCI skid plate. It works great.

I'm to the point I don't even lay old newspapers under my truck when I change the oil. I hardly drop any oil on the floor.

    @Philogynist
If the Fomoto valve is not used you can use the magnetic plug and crush gasket in place of it. 3/8 Allen wrench is used for tighten/ removal. The plastic nipple that comes with a new oil filter can be placed in the hole, same as the stock set up for oil drainage.
The magnetic part is fairly strong to attract metal particles, that’s the crush gasket clinging to it. Great question.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I purchased the "Jowett" many moons ago but it's still sitting on my bench. Like others, I'm going to use my last dealer oil change then do the installation. I didn't get the fancy DC-001 cap or the H-001 Straight Hose End with my purchase as he was selling some "blems" at a discount. It did come with the EZ-105 drain valve and a suitable plastic cap.

    Again, great write up!

Yep I was rewarded by my OCD.

I’m now working on modifying my stock skid plate to create an inspection/service hole that mimics the TRD/RCI skid plate.
I’ll post a picture of my mod.

Dust off your trophy ( Billet oil filter housing) and look at it again. :fistbump::boink::rofl: Be safe out there Sir.

I’d rather not list. My wife might see it.
Thanks for sharing! Will definitely add to the mod list since I’m not keen with Toyota’s 10k oil change schedule.

In case there’s questions on the Fomoto valve and the small nipple with O ring, IE: third piece in plastic parts screws in to outlet of Fomoto valve. When finishing remove and install black cap w/ O ring. Wa La... completed.

I wonder when Brian will be getting back to making these again. I have the metal housing from Toyota but those Jowett ones look pretty damn sweet.

I had the metal toyota one as well, but ordered the jowett performance one for my next oil change. The metal one is much better than the plastic pos that comes with the truck and mine was on for 20k miles no issues, but the jowett will just make changing the oil that much easier with about 0 chance of spilling any oil when you add this and the drain pan valve.

Just installed mine this past weekend, it's been a pending item for a while for me -- I ordered mine a few months ago.

After seeing how well the aluminum cap fit onto the end of the cap, I decided to place a second order, this time for the drain plug replacement (and an extra threaded nipple and 2 aluminum caps in case I lose one), and Brian actually refunded me a little bit because he was able to fit everything into a smaller package and get it to me via USPS Priority Mail!

All in all, super solid product, and very happy with the fit and finish. Looking forward to not splashing this "black water" they call oil all over my tire when I pull the plug...

Nope, unfortunate that it isn't listed on the site. I guess too many dumb question calls. Dude might be sick or dead, who knows. No worries, I have hand cleaner and a garage sink.

I agree but it would just be so much cleaner for a oil change. I just put on my fumoto valve the other day when I did my first change and also replaced that plastic filter housing with a metal one as well for now!

I have the one from my old truck that I am planning on selling when I get around to it....

To be honest, the MotivX kit that was linked is just as tidy at draining the filter housing (I also have and have used one of those kits). It has a clever screw mechanism for the filter drain so you aren't fumbling with the plastic drain nipple that comes w/ the new oil filters. I think a metal Toyota housing (I don't remember the part number) + the Motivx kit is pretty much just as good.
